Is this crazy? Is it dangerous?
Am I flying too close to the sun?
The lines seem to have an excellent (and rather aesthetic) path around the tower. The bed has plenty of room to swing back.
I don’t see an issue with clearance, but maybe I’m missing something critical…
I like this setup because it leaves room next to the printer… for more printers
Edit: I’ll rerun the power cord behind the AMS lite once this print is over.
Each time you load filament, you’re going to have to orientate everything again.
I just went through that to try it. Since it’s not printing when I change spools, I can slide the ams forward a bit and pop the spool off. It was really trivial even for the back because I have some extra room.
Thank you for pointing that out. It was worth trying ahead of time hehe
You can also go another route like I did
Lol you read my mind. I was just searching for vertical stands. That really seems like the ideal solution, even if I leave it back there. With that approach…
“This baby could fit 4 printers!” Slaps the desk
Here is the handle, if you want one.
That worked out perfectly, thank you. Went with a different base (that sits lower), but the same handle. Super happy with this setup. Thanks again.
Which was?

Version 2 here: AMS Lite Vertical Stand by Sam Hillier - MakerWorld
Requires no screws and it’s a very snug friction-fit.
Also supports the ams lite upside down as well (which I like better because it moves the cord lower so you can move it further from the printer.)
I bookmark this one, if I feel adventurous.
The design of this one centralises the weight down the z-pillar, significant motion in the x-axis could cause problems.
It would be great if there is a mechanism to attach to the base of the A1 mini to increase the footprint. In the same way, fire engines (trucks to the Americans) and other designed unstable machinery gain that stability by extending the legs.
Testing it right now.
I put both spools on the same side to test if it would tilt/flip.
It’s actually pretty damn stable.
I’m using this one and it’s working great. I guess he just took the way the full size A1 is mounted and made it fit the mini.
That one looks a bit scary, but the A1 is so well built and stiff that I’m sure it’ll be fine. Please keep up posted!
It does take a huge amount of vertical space, but it would mean fitting 2 A1 minis and a P1 on my desk, so it’s tempting lol.
This one looks much less daring, although takes up a bit more desk space. :
Thank you both for experimenting!
I’ve printed 3 models so far, it’s been fine.
I printed it with 3 walls instead of 2.
I’m thinking of printing the connector again with 6-8 walls just to feel safer.
I’m also thinking of printing it in ASA on my SV06.
I may have to try this now, since I have very limited space on the dresser that it is on and I do want to save some space.
