AMS Lite filament detection issues since last update

Since the A1 Mini update a few days ago the AMS Lite has been giving my problems.
It will detect Bambu filament, but it’s not detecting other brands.
I have to edit it in BS or Handy.
I even rolled back the firmware & the issue stayed.

I’m not getting ant errors, it just doesn’t see it. Filament changes from Empty to “?” will dots. If I click on Edit, I can only choose a color…everything else is blank.

Thought I’d post before I submit a ticket.

Maybe they are making it so you can’t use other brands
:grimacing::flushed:

I’ve kinda figured another work around.
I’m using my Mini right know, so I’ll have to comeback & post pics.

I guess it’s not a bug but a new feature…that sucks.

Click Edit

Click Filament

Shouldn’t have to do this every time I change filament that isn’t Bambu.
I put in a Ticket asking them to change it back.

Are you saying that your A1 mini somehow could identify spools without Bambulabs RFID tags before the last update?

First of all, it can only identify Bambu Labs filaments. It has always been this way, and it is nothing new. Second, you should use select the filament you use under “device” in Bambu Studio. There you can even select custom filaments. Makes it a lot easier when you sync your AMS to Bambu Studio.

You missing the point. Before I just had to click on Edit & the choices were already there.

Now I have to go through the above process.

Bambu’s Reply:

Thank you for your feedback,

From analyzing the printer logs, allow me to kindly explain the issue for you:

When you initially insert third-party filament, there is no record of filament data on the mainboard. Any edits made at this point will be stored in the mainboard.

Subsequently, when you insert third-party filament again, the printer will use the information recorded on the mainboard. If you insert Bambu filament, the RFID will be directly read, refreshing the data stored on the mainboard. At this point, if you remove the Bambu filament and replace it with third-party filament, it will display as a “?”.

This is the logic behind editing filament information on the printer screen.
