@adamwg80 if you have not solved the issue yet, perhaps you want to open the AMS Lite and check inside to see if the cables are all in order? I just went through replacing the cable after my AMS Lite fell off the desk, and disassembled it and assembled it three times. Not really complicated, and easy to trace the path from the AMS control board to-from the RFID readers.
There is very little inside the AMS Lite (quite flimsy and simple), perhaps you find what is wrong.Probably better than BL Support’s 3-4 day to reply and then one-crawling-message-a-day. Good luck
more than a year and several firmware updates later I still have the same issue with RFID on original Bambu filament not being read by AMS lite.
Sometimes it even identifies a wrong filament, or maybe remembering the wrong filament from previous roll.
Pushing the re-read button in Bambu Handy does nothing.
Kicking the re-read in Bambu studio does nothing (the circular arrow keeps spinning, while AMS Light does nothing other than blinking the white LED)
Never do the spools rotate on the re-read as described in the “Update on startup” description.
Powering the printer on and off and disconnecting the AMS lite is not making a difference.
I need to manually define all the time. Very disappointing
Bambu is not really the “Apple” of 3D printing in my experience.
Since day one of having my A1 mini, the AMS lite has not been able to automatically identify the filament type with the RFID. All filaments are bambu branded and should work.
I have an open ticket with bambu and they sent me a new AMS lite control board and after replacing it still does not function. I checked continuity of all connections using a multimeter and everything checks out.
I was advised to ensure that “insertion update” is selected on the AMS settings on studio, however the option does not exist on AMS lite (or at least it doesn’t exist on mine).
I am starting to wonder if it is a printer related issue at this point. Out of desperation I am on here seeing if there is something incredibly simple I am missing or if anyone has the same issue.
I will say that everything else functions as intended…I manually enter in the filament type and have a great time printing. It’s just this feature that doesn’t work…as far as I know.
My a1 ams lite started doing this a year ago and it went away by itself in just one day. Now it does it again and doesn’t seem to want to go away. I tried all spools that i have and sometimes one would be picked up but after i try the spool in the same slot again, nada.. All spools are read correctly the first time in my p1s ams 1 so it’s not the rfid. Also sometimes after multiple restarts one slot would pick up a roll, then not, then another different slot would would pick up a roll, then not… Today i managed (got lucky i guess) to have the ams lite see all spools correctly and just out of curiosity, i took all out and loaded them back in in the same respective slots and none are detected anymore (question sign on all of them). This makes me think that the readers are probably fine and maybe this is a firmware bug in the ams lite or the a1. This may be coincidental but i updated the a1 firmware not long ago..
