AMS load/reloading issue

I have a P1S with 2 original AMSs and once in a while I insert filament and it takes it to the print head and returns it to the AMS. Then it just keeps repeating this. I end up having to shut off the printer after it returns to the AMS to get it to stop. Anything to do about this?

AMS load and unload continously

I have a problem with the AMS. It load the filament in the extruder, i see the green dot on the screen, the filament stays there for a few seconds and then the AMS unload the filament completely and try to load it again. And that continues for a few tries before the screen says that it can’t load the filament. The only workaround i found is to load the filament and before the AMS unload it, i power off the X1C. Then i power on and launch the print, that way it works without first unloading the …

AMS repeatedly loading and unloading

I own an X1 so take this suggestion with a grain of salt… I had the same issue with my printer and it turned out to be the filament sensor. It had a sliver of filament in it that prevented it from working. After removing the sliver of filament all was well. You can test it here to confirm if yours is working or not.

Thank you for your reply. I tried a search but obviously not with the correct verbiage. It’s strange that sometimes it does it and sometimes it doesn’t same slot and sometimes same filament. Just a minor annoyance so not too upset but was hoping to be able to fix it quick. I might take the AMS apart and clean it up.

There is more information there then I have been able to find, after spending an hour or so on reading this good information, it dawned on me that there is no mention of the hub, which is where I am having problems. It loads, then unloads several times then just quits with various error messages.

1. I don’t think that the problem is with the AMS 2, because when I connect it with the old buffer (not the new hub) everything works perfectly, I just can’t operate more than 1 AMS (I have 2 AMS-1’s and 1 AMS 2).

2. Then, I started wondering about firmware - Studio reports firmware version on the X1C as 01.08.02.00, (latest version it says) BUT reports firmware version 00.00.00.00 for the AMS2.

3. How can I update the AMS to the latest version, and do I need to also update the X1C to make it work with multiple AMS units and the new hub.
   Any help would certainly be helpful, as it always has been in the past on other issues -

The latest for the X1C is 1.10.00.00. I would start by updating that. The AMS units should update automatically when you update the printers firmware. Try that and see if it fixes it.

It was worth a try, however, the update fails, says I must have at least V01.08.50.32 I looked every where and can not find that version…

So, I bit the bullet and went back online, instead of trying offline (Lan only mode). It is now at 3%, will let you know.

OK, I cheated by enabling the wifi, disabling the lan only, following directions on the screen under firmware (tap upper right corner) When completed re-enabled Lan Only, rebooted X1c,

Now running v01.10.00.00 on the X1C, and V 02.00.19.68

Well, almost! The second AMS printer is now doing the same load-unload-load thing that the new AMS-2 pro did before I updated the X1C.

I went through the same firmware deal I did on the X1C, and the second AMS printer firmware is now 00.00.06.75, but it still does not work.

Why is this so complicated? Will I ever be able to attach more than one AMS unit on the X1C?

Just so you understand what is happening, here is what I see:

1. load-unload-load several times, then says tangled filament (nope, I checked that) I try again, it fails then says possible clogged nozzle! Stop this monkey business then try to load from the AMS-2-Pro, it prints perfectly using the same filament, no clogged nozzle.
2. All PTF tubes with new ones, no sharp bends, no excessive length.

AMS 1 does not load using AMS external hub,
external hub firmware 00.00.00.43. Just loads, unloads several times
AMS 1 firmware 00.00.06.75

AMS2-pro works great., tried the AMS1 alone using the external hub, does not work.
Tried the AMS1 using the original buffer, AMS 1 works normally just will not work under any circumstances on the external hub,

so now I have 3 AMS, 2 original one new AMS2-pro, that will NOT work together. What a waste of money, especially when after a week of buying the AMS2-pro, it goes on sale for almost $100.00 less than what it cost me!

Huh! I swapped the older, out of date AMS1 with the updated AMS1 and guess what? The old firmware works great with the AMS2-pro and the external hub!
(but I do get a popup that says the firmware is out of date) I’m gonna leave it that way, I should know better than to update firmware unless it’s at least a year old.
