AMS Not Grabbing Filament

The second slot of one of my AMS units started having issues grabbing filament. It has no issues retracting, but I have to manually push the filament farther in order for it to grab and start pushing it to the extruder. The roll is full, so it’s not a weight issue. Any suggestions or ideas? I tried blowing some air into the first stage feeder to clear out any debris, but that didn’t work. Not sure if it’s the feeder or the internal hub causing the issue.

I would try swapping the second slot first stage feeder with another slot and see if the problem moves with the feeder.

Have you got any mods on the feeder tops? I had a simple button mod on and it played up with one feeder when I powered up it wouldn’t read that slot until I bumped the filament. I figure the angle of the filament coming into the sensor was pushed out by the button. I’ve pulled the stuff off and its been good ever since.

As @thumpernator1 mentioned, swap the feeders and see if the problem follows.

I had the one with the small piece of PFTE tube, but I removed it to see if that was the issue. I have a print going now and every time it switches to that spool I have to manually push the filament until it catches. I am pushing it well past the first stage feeder too, it feels like it engages once it hits the internal ams hub.

Going to try swapping feeders once the print finishes.

Thanks, I’ll try that once the current print finishes.
