My AMS just stopped loading the 3rd and 4th spool under the device tab in Bambu studio, if i look under the prepare tab I see all 4 spools and colors as i synced after manually setting the PLA and color for the 3rd and 4th slot again.
It as been fine up until a few days ago when they seem not to load after I have powered off the printer.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
There might be a problem with the RFID board connection on the AMS.
Please check this Wiki article (step 10-11) to re-connect the cable: Replacing the AMS main frame | Bambu Lab Wiki
If the issue persists, you can try swapping between the boards to see if the problem moves with the board. This will confirm if the RFID board is faulty and needs to be replaced.
Unfortunately I am not confident it breaking down an AMS like in the wiki. Thats way to technical for me.
My AMS is less than a year old so if its defective it should be covered by warranty?
You should be under warranty. Please contact our Customer Support team via a ticket to get more assistance in verifying this.
Please also note that the article is more detailed, as it shows how to replace the AMS frame. You can reach the antennas much easier.
This video shows how you can replace the internal PTFE tubes for maintenance, but following the same video, you can open the AMS to check the state of the antennas.
I don’t think this is the issue as they are using “Generic PLA” without RFID tags in all but the first slot which is reading correctly.
What do you see if you press print ? could they be incompatable filaments in the ams ? petg or similar ,
I noticed they where loading in Bambu Studio (little loading anim) then nothing came up, all 4 slots are PLA, slot 1 is Bambu and the rest generic and used to work.
I tried printing with slot 4 Blue and the printer went with slot 2 white which was strange.
I just hit load and 3 and 4 load but it wont remember what i manually enter.
I have also just noticed a firmware update so need to do that later and see if its still not playing ball.
do you have them in the correct printing order ?
Yep the Preview once synced is the same gold, white, green and blue and every was fine until a day or 2 ago.
I just updated the firmware and manually setup both slots up again and then via Bambu studio loaded the 3rd slot which is green and that worked.
I powered the machine off for 30 minutes then restarted it and it is now showing the correct colors in the 3rd and 4th slots so (touch wood) seems to be working. I selected slot 3 and hit print and so far its printing in the correct color.
Might have been the firmware updating messing with the AMS?
Only slot one is Bambu the other 3 are set as generic PLA as they are Elegoo PLA.
After updating the P1S firmware things now seem correct again but want to power it off after this print and leave it off all night then check again tomorrow.
Well I started the printer up today and again it as lost the slot 3 and 4 configuration. I moved the Bambu PLA from slot 1 to slot 4 and the AMS detected it so it dont look like the RFID board is dead, the issue seems to be it does not save the manual setup of filament in slot 3 and 4.
Possible software bug?
