AMS not successfully feeding to primary left nozzle

I had a TPU 95A clog issue in the main extruder; so I had to disassemble the toolhead and main extruder. After reassembling everything my AMS 2 Pro nor AMS HT will successfully load filament to the left extruder. Both filament systems will attempt to feed and then reel the filament back in and this repeats for about 6 times and then the printer will put up an error saying “unable to feed filament into the extruder”.

Both AMS units works without any problems until I had to disassemble the toolhead and put it back together.

I am able to print to the auxiliary nozzle fine from either AMS unit.

I am also using a filament track switch.

Any help or insight would be greatly apprecitated.

I had the same error message and it was something stuck in the filament sensor. Check to make sure the sensor is working properly. Remove the PTFE tube from the top and push in a piece of filament. In the control panel you can see if the sensor is seeing the filament as it should light up green once filament is detected. You can check for blockages by using the controls to feed the filament through the sensor. You will need to remove the nozzle before doing this so the filament can be pushed through the sensor. Since you had everything apart, I assume there is no blockage and the most likely problem is that a wiring connector is not seated properly or the sensor itself is not seated correctly.

Thank you for replying Clogged Jet. I had pulled the left nozzle sensor out to inspect wondering if there was a small piece of TPU blocking filament from entering the extruder, but I was able to push filament through the sensor freely. There’s a chance that I could have damaged the connector for the sensor cable when pulling the cable out. I order another filament sensor for the left nozzle and the extrusion connector board in thinking that one of these two components may be my problem.

Great that the filament could be pushed through. Is the on screen sensor turning green once the filament is inserted? If so, then the sensor is “seeing” the filament and the issue is not electrical connectors but probably something physically broke when it was being removed or not seated correctly. Hopefully the new sensor will solve your problems.

I wish Bambu made it easier to replace. Removing all of the small screws and having to disconnect sensitive (and easily breakable) connectors is not my idea of making things easily repairable.

I checked the sensor with a piece of filament and it is not showing green. There’s a good possibility that I could have damaged something when removing the cable for the filament senor. I ordered a new left filament sensor and the extruder board that the sensor plugs into. I have a problem with small cables and tiny screws these days now that I’m older.

While i was able to remove the stuck TPU (which i later found out AMS 2 Pro was never supposed to load TPU haha), i realized the filament would never load past the left nozzle behind the printer) X2D printer btw). Reattmepted loading, unclog nozzle, nothing worked

Then later i realized during reinstalling the cable for the internal sensor, I bent one of the pins. Luckily i was able to rebend it back to shape without breaking it haha. Works like a charm now.

So in case you’re exactly in the TPU clog and unable to feed issue, check your sensors as well as pin connectors!
