I have two AMS Pro 2 units. One unit, just started having issues with loading the 1st spot filament. Has problems drawing, but backs up fine, once it has problems pulling in and backs up, it is fine until it gets roughly at the end of the first pull, then starts straining to pull and bouncing the spool about, etc. Does this on a light roll (less than half left) and a full roll. I’ve dried the spool in an external spool drier for 16 hours. The other three spots seem to be working fine!
An update, second head (A3 this time A4 last time) has done the same thing, the right nozzle was unable to clear the extruder and it looks like the filament was cut, and the main part went back up to the spool area, but the cut piece was still partially in the extruder, and it also had some filament in the extruder that had been melted. I cold pulled it out following instructions, but wondering what I am doing wrong for this to happen twice, both times with White BL PLA Basic (on an H2D).
(Side note, my profile is no longer private, and not sure when I marked it so!?)
What worked for me was; 1) Shorten all the PTFE tubes as much as possible. 2) Install the printed PTFE bend guides 3) rerun the AMS setup.
If it only happen on light spools, consider spool weights or “AMS -SDS 2 pro - spool jump & slip fix” on makerworld
Will check all that out tomorrow, mostly light loads for sure. But both nozzles are doing it.

I’m using an H2D with an AMS Pro 2, and I’m repeatedly getting this error during prints:
Filament extrusion error; please check the assistant for troubleshooting. After resolving the issue, decide whether to cancel or resume the print job based on the actual print status. [0300-801A 223327]
It usually happens partway through a print. The AMS tries to load filament a few times, then beeps and throws this message.
I’ve already:
- Restarted both the printer and AMS Pro 2
- Reseated all AMS connections
- Verified that the filament path is clear
- Deleted and re-uploaded the print files
Despite that, the error keeps popping up — usually while printing from the AMS rather than external feed.
Has anyone else seen this specific [0300-801A 223327] code on the AMS Pro 2 or found a fix?
Found the problem. The filament on all three rolls, BL PLA Basic, were all “tangled” deeper in the roll, and it was having problems drawing for some reason, once I undid the tangle, it ran smoothly! From the factory that way apparently…
This is a common issue amongst beginners with 3D printing.
First rule of 3D printing with filaments:
Never let go of the end of your filament when handling a roll of filament!
The tangled bit wasn’t somewhere deeper in the roll, it was at the start and comes from letting go of the end of the filament.

Yep, a newbie, however in this instance, this roll started out as a brand new roll, placed in the AMS unit and never touched once put in the AMS. This was when there was about 1/5th of the roll left. How did I mess it up that far into the roll without touching it that far into the roll?
Aside from that, I don’t want a mess of filament everywhere, so I am VERY careful to not let go from day one. I dropped one roll (stupid move, that had my Belgium Malinois help…) early on, and the fixing of that issue caused me to download and print a spool winder, but it was still a pain to fix, so I don’t want to handle “loose” spools more than I have to!
As you can see in the movie, the tangle can slide deeper into the roll. Depending upon how tight and how neat the roll is winded, the issue can show up very late, or not at all.
From a manufacturing perspective, winding a roll with a tangle is not possible. The only moment in production that this issue can appear is between cutting the filament and taping it to the spool. If that is a manual process, the operator could be the one causing this issue.
In an automated process I would say that this is virtually impossible.
The fact you had 3 different spools with the same issue, assuming that those were different colors, the chance of you getting 3 of them together in one session is highly unlikely.
I had also 2 spools tangled when I started 3D printing, before I found out it was me. In the 6 years after that I haven’t had any tangled spool anymore.
If you let the end accidentally slip, the movie shows a simple way to fix it without rewinding your spool.
In watching the backing out of filament in a color change, it seems to be related to that. The other two were from moves from one AMS to the other to manage changes better. Different sessions between this last event and the first event. I know that I will be keeping an even tighter control of the end with any changes I make for sure!
As to the messed up spool, the whole spool was knocked out of my hands, went flying and falling, came apart and the spool completely spear out a good bit. Hence the respooling…
