It’s not very clear to me how to print with the additional spool to the AMS. Is there an explanation or a video that shows how to do it?
From what I understand, I have to add a filament in the filament menu where you see the AMS with the 4 coils then I have to detach a pfte tube of the AMS to connect the external coil one.
I don’t understand here. Which tube should I detach? how do I tell the AMS that it can’t use that filament if it detects it from the tag.
This operation is not clear to me.
So its one or the other. You can use the AMS or the external roll not both at the same time. you can set the filamnet type on the printer or the slicer under device for the external roll. You diconnect the tube at the top of the printer. I made a y splitter so i did not have to keep doing so when i print Carbon Nylon.
You will need a few M10 connectors you can get it from amazon.
Once you are ready mannually slide the filament into the tube all the way to the print head keep a little pressure and on the printer select the external roll and click load
Therefore I can’t use the ams together with the external coil, or one or the other.
I’m having a hard time putting the Y-split on the A1.
I wouldn’t know how to fix it.
You should have added that piece of information that it was an A1. I read the topic section which contains all posts so did not see the section portion. No the splitter is not really ment for that machine but the rule is the same you cannot use the AMS and the external single roll at the same time.
There are many solutions for the A1 Here are two solutions for your device. But again to be clear you cannot use the AMS and the single roll at the same time.
I’ve searched the forum vut couldn’t find an anwser to my question:
I wonder if it would be possible to use 3 out of 4 coils of the AMS lite on my A1, and use the fourth port on the print head to connect to the external coil for TPU prints. I don’t need more than 3 colors on the AMS, so that makes it more easy to switch to TPU on the external coil?
When you send the print job to the printer, if you untick the AMS option and the manually feed in the TPU on the 4th port on the print head then yes this would work fine.
Just make sure you then manually unload the filament before using the AMS again, you will also need to configure the TPU as the external spool in Bambu Studio and not as the 4th AMS filament.
