From the Device tab, you change the device there.
The one on the prepare tab is all about the project/model, the Device tab is all about the device.
In the Prepare tab you use the printer selector to manage your profile ready to print.
The one in the device tab is all about changing your printers or printers.
Resetting the External spool
You are talking about the external filament resetting ?
I already did it soon after you suggested it on the previous message
I was referring to the following point where you were saying
"I just tried the new BS version from today. Using the drop downs from the filament chooser (top left of the prepare tab in BS) the correct AMS entries appear in the drop down when I swap between the many printers I have.
Fingers crossed this isn’t a one-day wonder."
Changing from the Prepare tab in BS doesn’t affect the AMS section … when i choose the A1 it is still presenting me the X1c’s AMS… (and vice-versa if i do it…)
This whole first part was about that.
There were two parts to my answer.
I will go and try again now.
I have just jumped between 4 different printers, leaving one off and turning it one during the test and returning to the first one near the end of the test.
I use the device tab and select P1S Red
I use the device tab and select P1S Blue
I use the device tab and select A1 mini again
I use the device tab and select P1S Green Which I only just turned on
It is working for me using Bambu Studio 1.10.0.89
At least until it regresses.
I think you are a lucky one
I am using the same version… lol:
I go in the DEVICE tab and choose my X1C
The AMS on the Right shows the right setting.
I go in the prepare tab with the X1C chosen:
The AMS settings are correct (they were already there…)
Then I do the same procedure as you described before…
So i go back to the DEVICE tab and choose my A1 Mini:
As you see the A1mini is choosen and i can confirm on the right side the AMS is charged with its right setting.
Now i go back to PREPARE and choose my A1Mini:
Surprise !!! The AMS don’t change and they still are the X1c’s ones
Awww… you choose a filament from the filaments dropdown…
Sorry i was missing this procedure.
Anyway it’s not the way it should be…
The filaments should change automatically once the printer selected…
You shouldn’t go in the filaments dropdown. This seems just a “workaround”
Moreover… i tried again the operation in the oppsite way (from A1mini to X1c) and when opening the filaments dropdown i didn’t get any AMS used filaments in my X1C and after trying a resync it said…
It is NOT how it should be.
Changing the printer or a spool in the AMS and having that automatically change the filaments assigned in the filament chooser is dangerous.
Scenerio.
You downloaded one of my great models, the flag of South Africa.
It has the following colours:
You change your printer and you have the following colours:
Now the flag has changed because you had 5 of the 6 colours in different slots than I had selected and you lacked a yellow which is now orange.
Any South African national will take this new version of their flag poorly.
Your wish would only work if no model was in BS when you swapped printers.
The filament selector in the prepare tab is a pool from which you can select your model parts or paint them.
It was never designed to be a 1-2-1 relationship.
What you are actually after is one or more of these.
You have to balance the dual needs of setting up a new project and working with someone else’s.
I understand what you mean.
Hi everyone, even though Bambu Studio (Win10) could at first not sync the changed filament config in the AMS, the printer (X1C) displayed AMS filament config correctly.
So I closed Bambu Studio, opened it again, clicked “Resync”, and that worked. Filaments in the AMS are now displayed correctly…
