AMS2 PRO not closing properly

I have already talked with support about this, and I was dissatisfied with the answer, so I am posting it here to see if I can get some better help.

The thing is that the lid from my AMS2 Pro does not properly close, and I can see that at the bottom there are some parts that do not seem to be in the right place.

Here you can see some pictures that showcase the problem of the lid, but more significantly, the problem at the bottom of the AMS 2 pro:

They have offered to send me a sealing kit, like that was a solution to the thing at the bottom of the AMS. I am honestly very upset at the support team because they first ignored all my pictures and ignored my description of the problem in the ticket. They just sent me a canned response asking for more details in a very generic way.

Hopefully I can get more of a human touch here in the community

The same thing happened to me when I replaced the buffer assembly. When putting the main assembly back in the case it is easy to not get it seated correctly and yes the screws will still go in. Don’t try using more torque it doesn’t help. Remove the screws and wiggle it around until it seats pperfectly.it took me 3 or 4 tries to get it right.

I had this too. Please check the rubber sealing. Mine was squished somehow. But you can put the sealing back using a blunt instrument running through the the middle sealing gap.

I had a similar issue. They first sent me a new body incl sealing kit. as that didn’t help, they then sent me a new lid, which solved the issue. It was a very positive experience. Seems like the support personnel really have different attitudes

with the lid open, can you check if base and lid are straight?

The gap at the bottom looks like it hasn’t been assembled correctly?

With both of those issues, I probably would also insist in a refund for a unit that is new.

Most likely the rubber sealing isn’t sitting correctly. I’d recommend getting in touch with support if not done already via ticket and they’ll guide you. My uneducated guess is they’ll provide spare parts too.

For confirmation only.

  1. Does the same thing occur if the AMS is empty?

  2. In one of the pictures I see a black spool. Is that a differ size spool from the maximum allowed diameter?

Thank you everyone for your help. I’ll proceed to answer each one individually.

Meanwhile, I contacted support AGAIN, and they insist that the problem is on the sealing rubber.

Not sure what do you mean. What is the base? How do I check if the lid is straight?

That is my guess too, but since I didn’t assembled it, it came like this from factory I don’t know

Yes, exactly the same problem

I exactly same size as the bamboo spools:

Here are some pictures of how it looks when I don’t push the lid and I just let it rest:

Here are some pictures of the sealing rubber:

Thanks everyone

with the base, I mean the transparent bottom shell. You could use a ruler to check if the edges are straight.
In my case, one corner of the lid was visibly bent upwards, i think ~2mm. When I forced that corner down with the small lever, it caused the lid to bulge in the middle like in your photo. It also caused the sealing to deform. let me see if I still can retrieve the photo from the ticket.

found the photos that I attach to my ticket:

To be clear, you are referring to this gap, righ?

Is that from the front part or the back of the device?

exactly

this is at the front. if you look closely, you can see the slightly raised curve that the levers ride on.

So far they have concluded, after contacting them again, that the problem is the sealing rubber.

Because they don’t have sealing rubber kits available, they will send me the complete shell.

It’s going to be a chore to have to replace the entire shell, but at least it will be a solution.

It is a bit of work but I didn’t find it too bad. At least for the AMS 1 where I had the issue. I found the most difficult step was to put in the seal correctly, which I received before they sent me bottom shell. If the seal is already in place, I would prefer changing the shell instead of the seal actually. At least you can be sure that everything is correct then. And if the misaligned bottom part was caused by the shell, you get this solved at the same time.

Hopefully you have everything working as expected after the repair!

Fair points! I think you are right, I better just change the bottom part
