Is the AMS 2 switching just a 24v 4.0 amp wall wart, or something else? Why is it called a switching adapter?
A switching power supply (SMPS) is an electronic device that converts electrical power efficiently from an AC or DC source into a regulated DC output. It achieves this by using a switching regulator that rapidly toggles a switch on and off at high frequencies.
So this is a technical term. Most modern power supply work that way. But if you use a 24V 4A power supply with the correct plug polarity you are on the right side.
