An Update & advice on My DOA X1C

So I have been back & forth with tech people.
I have two options
1- They’ll send me new AP board, I have to buy a hair dryer and UV glue, install it then email them to have them switch serial # before I came “bind” the unit, which I think means I came use it till support does something.

2- Order a new unit, then return the other unit, they haven’t explicitly said they would pay for shipping but heavily implied it.

They claim # 1 is quicker than buying a new unit, but I think what they mean is it will take me longer to get my money back! But it’s on a CC with not interest for 6mo so I don’t care!

What would you do?

Hello Again,

If they will pay the shipping fee to return the old printer I would get another one if it was me.

What if it is more than just the AP board or they send you the wrong version of the AP board, more lost time of not having a printer :frowning:

Have a good one :v:

I just went through this with the AP board and went the return for refund route, and bought a new one in the meantime. It was about a week between most responses from support, and each request only asked for one bit of information at a time. It was just taking too long working with them, and then there’s the stories of them sending a P1P or X1(non-C) board, having to wait for them to bind the serials, and the potential that the AP board isn’t even the real issue.

If you’re still in the return period they should cover return shipping (they did with mine). I now have my new one up and printing while I just got the return label for the first one today.

Shoot I forgot to mention!
They said they needed a picture of QR from the front AND rear of my board. THERE IS NO QR on the back of my board!
Then changed it to “ok all we need if the QR from the front”

DONE!
Those were the responses I needed to just pull the trigger on the replacement!
I imagine they’ll cover return shipment, it was kind of implied it was up to me if I didn’t want to do the swap myself.

The machine is DOA which makes it a warranty failure. Defective merchandise. They have no choice but to replace it at their cost. Sending you the board and having you replace it might be doing you a favor if you’re really anxious to get the machine going. But really it saves them a fair amount of money since there’s no two-way machine shipping costs for your replacement and return, and they don’t have to pay for the time and labor to repair your failed machine (which they will then use as a warranty replacement for someone else’s machine, probably, since that’s what many manufacturers do with high-value warranty replacements). So really, it’s doing them more of a favor than you.

If you’d bought a big flat screen TV at BestBuy and it didn’t work and Samsung (or whoever) said they’d send you the parts to repair it yourself, would you go for it? Your printer is brand new, it should work. If you repair it and them something else goes wrong you’ll be having a debate with Bambu about whether it was a preexisting defect or you busted it making your repairs.

Going for the replacement machine is the right call.
