Just pointing out that it does say it’s “built for long-term storage”:
which runs counter to the earlier objection of what happens if you’re frequently opening and closing the door. That wouldn’t be of much concern in a long-term storage scenario. That’s also a better fit if it is a bit underpowered and not able to pump down the humidity rapidly to the target. It just needs to reach it and then sustain it.
I hope it uses a decent humidity sensor, and not the lousy ones that are off by up to 5%. Or at least have some way to calibrate it if it does go the cheap sensor route. Otherwise, you could be in a situation where to set the target to 10%, you’d have to set it to 5%, which no doubt it won’t allow. If the target range is 10%-15%, it doesn’t leave a lot of margin for sloppy sensors, unless you’re willing to accept 15% when you’d rather have 10%.\
Also, maybe you could supercharge it by putting in a kilogram or two of silica gel desiccant so that it can pull the humidity down rapidly. What? Wouldn’t that be heresy? Wouldn’t that defeat the whole idea by creating a need for silica gel renewal? Well, maybe not if that earlier video I showed above of the molecular sieve sucking the moisture out of the silica gel. If it could do that to silica gel inside the cabinet, then (theoretically) you’d not ever need to renew the silica gel. Right?
