Another "artist" on ETSY

Hello friends, yesterday someone on my cults3D profile pointed out to me about this “artist” who sells my models on ETSY, this “hero” just awkwardly changed the background through AI and sells it for a lot of money. Can you advise me how to report it to ESTY? Their reporting system is a bit messy

You need to make an account here: Etsy Reporting Portal

Then register your model as “IP” and claim your IP on the infringing model on Etsy. It is a bit cumbersome, but it works pretty fast. Have had items removed succesfully multiple times.

sadly we are not on etsy here my friend the best way for you would be to report it there, there is nothing people can do here for you I believe.

Unbelievable! He’s not even trying sell prints… But the file itself. It’s so disgusting! I’m pissed now :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Wonder if these all being sold without permission .

If you look at the review details, many reviewed items are no longer listed.

Given these are mostly electronic sales, this likely means other stolen work has been removed from their listing.

It depends, the licensing includes the ability to choose commercial use allowed or prohibited.

The CC4.0 standard license w/o including restrictions is:

You are free to:

  1. Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format for any purpose, even commercially.
  2. Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially.
  3. The licensor cannot revoke these freedoms as long as you follow the license terms.

You have to choose to restrict commercial use . Redistribution of the file can also be prohibited.

Frankly this happens all the time on Etsy. Most people that put commercial restriction on a license, never check to see if it’s being honored, so many people ignore the licensing. Have no idea if Etsy is good or lackadaisical about enforcing CC licenses

I’m printing some dice towers I downloaded for a local game store. I made sure there were no commercial restrictions and printed a pdf of the license page (with the url visible) for the object and saved it in the local folder.

There are a couple of non commercial ones I’m interested in and have started contacting the designers to see if I could pay them a royalty. The issue that might prevent that is the fact they have to trust me to be honest on the numbers, as they aren’t being sold online. With Etsy the designer could check the total sales (something that’s easy to do with etsy using a browser plugin)

I asked 2 sellers (who I think is always the same because they responded at the same time) to remove one of my models because I had not issued the commercial license and that if they had not removed the model, I would have reported it to Etsy and taken legal action. “Ok, no problem” response and models eliminated

Esty should require for appropriate-credit to be stated on listing page. Otherwise they no better than the sellers.

Etsy should go and get all of the revenue from models that were removed because of IP claims back from the sellers and send that money to the claimers…

It would take a successful lawsuit from a designer to set a precedent and get Etsy to refund money. Why?, Because of how much it would cost them as they only collect a selling fee, not the whole amount.
