Is it really that easy to get points?
Well, then I should upload some of my models here too. Let’s see if I get a few points as well.

Agreed. Integrity should be maintained. Unfortunately some people will take advantage.

But that’s bad for some designers, especially since there are already a few who create really good designs.

It’s easy if you know what you’re doing or steal from quality.
Mainly the latter.

Yes and no. I think it’s really bad for designer with a really small niche or small audience.

But in general there way more users than designers, so there are many boosts to be given. Especially since they soften the rules to get them. So this encourages user to give boost to different different designer over the year which is a good thing IMO.

And once a designer gets momentum, he will receive boosts daily from various users. At least it’s the case for me (lucky me )

I agree. My real models are for a small group that may not even think of looking for them here. Every once in awhile I see points.

I kinda care, but I tend to like just giving boosts out. Because of my experience I tend to find that niche model that has no or very few boosts and give one out. Been done for me and I appreciated it greatly.

Well, I have 3 Boosts so far. But I wouldn’t consider myself a designer. I think it’s great that manufacturers are doing something to encourage model creation. It’s very time-consuming, especially when, like me, you basically have no idea about the subject. But more downloads motivate you to create more. Even though, as a beginner, it’s a bit more challenging here than elsewhere. This way, I also learn something new with each model, which makes them better and better.

Yes it’s definitely harder on MW mainly because of the unique audience of Bambu Lab. Compared to other brands, they attract a lot more newcomers to 3d printing.

Most of those newcomers just want to print cool stuff without tinkering too much and the 3d printer is just a tool or an appliance to them.

So MW introduced stricter guidelines to meet the expectations of this audience. They’re goal is to try to remove any difficulties along the process of printing something for the end user.
MW basically want finished product level models not just blueprints.
So yep, that means more work for the designers but on the other hand they reward our harder work. So to me it’s a win win situation

I was also a newbie and mainly wanted to print cool stuff. But in everyday life, I increasingly found uses for things where I couldn’t find suitable designs. So, I started to get into drawing my own.

The community here is much larger. On MO, hardly anyone responds to posts. But I get a lot more points for it on AC. That’s probably also because there aren’t as many models yet. Let’s see how it develops.

I agree about downloads and boosts not being a key factor in competition judging. A good model is a good model even if the creator does not have thousands of followers, youtube, X or Insta pages etc.

That’s true. If you create something that not everyone needs because it’s specifically targeted at a certain group, and that group isn’t very large, it doesn’t mean that a model with few downloads is bad. It’s all about supply and demand. And the reverse is also true.
