Sorry I searched and was amazed to not find this question or maybe I missed it. The quality of the camera is fine but please change the fps instead of frames per minute. There is no way that this hardware is not able to go higher this should be possible in a firmware upgrade. Yes I know use an external camera which I have but it’s foolish to need that.
I have the same problem. The cam used only 30 fps and the original light ist to low. I have tryed to install a bright led and now its flickering because of the 50hz AC/DC. The only way to fix the problem is changing the cam fps to 25 or 50 fps. I hope we will get the option in the future.
the printer is literally not able to squeeze more frames out of the camera. the mcu cpu is ESP32 based, and if you have ever used an esp32 camera module, these things are already over loaded just attempting delivering 10 fps. running a complex core xy motion system on top of that is not possible, thats why they run the printer firmware with a higher priority, and whats left are the 0,5 fps of processing bandwidth overhead. you rather have your printer not freezing and stuttering than having actual frames per second. the x1 has better framerate because its using way more powerful hardware in the first place. it sports a quad core cpu for the camera, touchscreen display and smart features and a dual core mcu to run the printer.
it’s running on less than 10 frames per MINUTE though.
and they could have easely given the camera it’s own hardware to run on.
just throwing this in here. because i don’t know of an idea box.
but why not just ad an update to bambu studio to be able to use third party webcams.
it can even then use said 30 or 60 fps feed, to make timelapses (simply screenshot the feed. it won’t even need to control the camera)
heck they can even just bring out a standalone camera that can slot into the second peripheral slot in the back of the A1 for power. (the one that’s not intended for a second ams lite ever)
Yes please. It is the most obvious upgrade after using the printer. Bambu could either make or enable a better camera, Sure, I can supply my own and have but how much better to integrate and have it display the existing window of Bambu Studio without using current hardware to function, direct to app via wifi. Someone is missing an opportunity to please a lot of printer users and make money on an accessory, as long as it isn’t overpriced, a lot of current owners would be queueing up.
Because the onboard controller would need to process that data, however it’s being fed from machine to network. It’ll still overload the capability of the board… Software isn’t the issue - hardware is the limitation here.
Convenience costs money. If something like this existed, it would be extremely niche and would cost a lot of money. 1fps etc. is mostly fine for just checking in to see if a print has failed or not. If you need more, buy a separate camera and put it nearby.
