Any possibility of student and teacher accounts - Makerlab Request?

I use an X1C personally and 2 in my school. Most things we do on them in the classroom come from the student and teacher accounts in Tinkercad.

Is there any chance Bambu could incorporate that rostering functionality into Makerworld? I don’t know if there’s anywhere better to request this. Even if giving full access is problematic, just the Makerlab section would be awesome to use in the classroom.

This would be a rostering option with an SSO like Google. That means a teacher could create their account and have the ability to create student accounts that are managed within it. The student accounts could be manually created or have the option to sign in with Google along with others. In that way, a class of students could create designs with the tools in Makerlab that the teacher would then be able to access and print. This is the same functionality as Tinkercad, Scratch, and many many other sites.

There’s a thread here about multiple accounts on Bambu printers. The ecosystem doesn’t seem to be set up for that but probably more information in that thread.

Also, be sure to look into the privacy issues of cloud printing. There have been discussions about that here as well. Some organizations don’t allow some of the things the Bambu ecosystem does. Any time you are working with minors and computing you really need to be aware of laws and restrictions.

I’m well aware. Have been in public school tech for 20 years and am the head admin for a school district. Students would not be cloud printing or have accounts on the printer and my post doesn’t say anything about that. I do all slicing and printing. I’m referencing rostered accounts for the Makerlab tools on Makerworld. Rostered with an SSO like Google or otherwise the same way it works for Tinkercad and many other sites.

Edit your title (the pencil icon), add an optional category with the word “request” in it, I can’t remember if it is “product-request” or “feature-request” for the main category “MakerWorld”.

Without this there is little chance of an employee noticing your request p.

I would recommend explaining the term rostering for those who do not understand it and his you would see it work.

If you have any chance of getting this as a feature p, you have to make it very clear what it is you are after and how that would benefit the platform.

Remember, this is a Chinese company that likely has no understanding of the term rostering as you understand it in your context.

That’s helpful, thank you. Will do.
