Any suggestion what is causing this first layer problem PETG?

Bit of a silly question, but have you checked to make sure the part is sitting flat on the bed in studio? That would be the first thing I would check. Parts don’t always come in and sit perfectly flat.

That or there is something on the bed causing adhesion problems. It is very distinct change in adhesion.

My mind was going there too.

@dirkb19 It’s hard to determine what’s going on without seeing what the model is supposed to look like after you slice it. Could you post a screengrab of the sliced geometry? That would yield valuable data.

Also, as @JonRaymond suggested, have you flattened the model on the build plate. Simplest way is to click on the Auto Orient in the toolbar.

Last but not least, if you’re printing a model that let’s say is a 100 x 200 sheet but one half of the model is let’s say 2mm off the build plate, then essentially what you are doing is trying to print in midair and I would expect it to produce output like you are showing. That implies that you are trying to print something elevated and omitting supports. If that is true, then it simply will not work, you have to enable supports.

Hi guys,
Thanks a lot for the quick response.
It could be that I forgot to Auto Orient this time, I’m not sure.
Fact is I tried a second print of the same part and then it came out good.
A second and third similar part also printed good… So I guess/hope it was a one time glitch.
Thx again for the responses !

Glad it’s working. On the rare occasion I have a failed print I often find a piece of filament stuck to the bottom of the plate that throws off the bed leveling or I didn’t put the plate in correctly. It happens…
