Anycubic and Makeronline cloning Bambu Lab and Makerworld

Looks like the latest Anycubic printer with their multicolor system (Kobra 3 Combo) is a full clone of Bambu Lab (A1 Combo). But what is shocking is the Makeronline website which is IDENTICAL to Makerworld - even the logo is almost the same.

Maybe users will benefit from this competition, but so far the behavior of Anycubic is a bit sad and quite questionable. I can already see the webmaster of Anycubic saying that Makeronline is a remix of Makerworld…

Does Makeronline offer a decent points reward sytem?

Competition - maybe. But the number of 3D model websites is growing to much imho. Competition is good, but you can’t publish anything anywhere. I will stay with the bigger one (Thinigverse/Printables) and only use MW because I own the printers and they have general quite an impact. But I will not invest into any manufacturer-own projects too. It’s too much for me …

I love Anycubic filament lol, mainly only use their black & grey PLA but honestly it’s been the smoothest surface finish I’ve had using it plus its reasonably priced!.

Bambu Labs will be honored of this achievement lol

same here. the anycubic filament is one of the best pla spools ive ever seen. the spools are very very well rolled, never tangled perfectly rolled, the diameter of the filament is also very consistent. I guess taking time to roll the spools rather then going crazy fast does make a difference

I’ve seen a bunch of the same users posting there. Not sure what system they use though.

I started using their petg after not being able dial in the bbl petg basic to my liking and I must say, at 13eur/kg I was massively impressed by them. Would prefer anycubic petg to bbl petg basic even if they were priced the same

AnyCubic is the kind of company BBL is probably happy to have as a competitor, because when a reviewer does an X vs Y comparison of printers made by the two companies, guess who comes out looking better?

Also, before BBL arrived on the scene, didn’t AnyCubic spend probably more than 5 years trying to clone the Prusa MK3? Did they succeed? Not really. Now think about that for a minute. They couldn’t clone even an open source 3D printer, where literally everything known about the printer was exposed to them like an open book. Keeping that in mind, do you think they’ll have more success cloning BBL printers, which aren’t open source?

In summary, although it is true that anycubic is a competitor, based on its track record it doesn’t apear to be a competitor that’s likely to be of any consequence to BBL. Or am I wrong? Did I miss something?

To be fair, they are a more resin printer-focused company.

I like Anycubic. I never thought they were trying to clone the Mk3? I had a Vyper and Kobra Max from them, and liked both of those printers a lot. That Vyper was the first printer I really started recommending to new users, even over something like a Prusa Mk3. It was cheaper, easier to get, and just worked for the most part. That was the first printer my dad got, and he had a pretty similar experience to me. It ticked all the boxes for what I wanted, which was mainly auto-leveling and a removable bed.

In my current setup I have a Kobra 2 Max and that thing is awesome. I don’t use it more only for the fact that it doesn’t have an AMS, and now I just don’t want to go back to non-ams setups. They’re clunky and old and only one color, and that annoys me because I want all the colors!

My interest in their model repository is at 0 though, haha. Makerworld kind of completes the system that Bambu has made, and I think Bambu has the sort of vision that the product line doesn’t feel sooo… sitting in the shadows of everyone else. It gives some weight to the staying power of their ecosystem, even when standing amongst giants like Printables or Thingiverse. I don’t feel that solid in the developments of products from companies like Anycubic or Creality. I’d buy an Anycubic as a one off, but I wouldn’t build my workflow around it.

Contests for giftcards. That’s about it. They have a point system, but MW is like 20x better

Makerworld WAS 20x better. Now they may be equal…

come on…don’t be a hater just cause MW is trying some new stuff, lets wait till the dust settles and see who comes on top. I like my routine combination of MW+Printables(with a touch of Thingi), I think these three completes the 3D model universe

I’ve also uploaded a few models. You can tell that it’s only designers who are active, not those who download and print the models, so the balance is off.

Moreover, there are still many bugs, and support largely does not respond to forum posts and criticism. I have pointed out many issues which are ignored and go unanswered.

Now everything is turning into chaos. What do you think, how long will it take before people leave the site?

I’m now winning a few contests, collecting my premiums, and I think I will no longer focus on this site.

My site remains MakerWorld; it’s innovative and I notice that they really make an effort and try new things (even if sometimes I don’t like them). The new BOM function is system alone has huge potential and is just at the beginning

hehehe, no. You never get any points XD

All those new STL sharing platform will only make Thangs even more popular ^^

The add printer dialogue does not contain Kobra 2 Max profile. This machine has been out for some time. Has it been long enough for them to add that profile? This would simplify my work flow quite a bit.
