Anyone else panic buying? (Tariffs)

I have friends who do a lot of printing and swear by a company in Spring, Texas called “ZYLtech”. Perhaps check into them if you’re in the US.

They might be in for a boom in business, their prices were a premium over import but not 100-150% like everyone else. I wonder if they still just have that single Dingkun.

except it’s not, they’re treating trade imbalance as a tariff where no tariffs exist like that.

it’s rank amateur “i bankrupted 4 casinos” stupidity.

I’ve been buying their filament like crazy since my local HobbyTown started carrying it. They’re the only place that isn’t Micro Center that is carrying filament in store. I’ve had mostly good results with it (I’ve had one spool be difficult, but not bad out of the 15 or so I’ve bought.)

According to ai, ramps on aliexpress is reliable. High speed petg for almost $8 per roll if you order 10. The stuff I tested was part way between sunlu and elegoo flow rate. 30mm3/sec

[EDIT: US warehouse, ships locally. Good luck!]

You are right…tariffs are normally based off of cost. That’s probably why the price only went up $300. Apparently our Moron in Chief is saying he wants to put another 50% on Chinese imports in retaliation for the retaliation (probably more retaliation retaliations coming!).

It would be pretty bad business for Bambu to come back again on something ordered for an agreed price which already includes tariffs and demand more. I doubt they would do that. They may increase the price of the next round, but I can’t imagine they would tick people off that already paid and are awaiting shipment.

Him saying China would pay for it was to get his base riled up—they’re not the most well-read people in the country and will believe anything he says without bothering to do 2 minutes’ research. Tariffs are borne by the importer and eventually the consumer at the end of the day by increased prices…not the exporter. That’s why this is nothing more than a huge sales tax.

Thank you, I was sitting on the fence on whether to order a additional AMS right after receving my H2D. Seeing your thread and the discussion pushed me to purchase a second one. Glad I did.

Thanx again.

US Tariffs on Chinese goods raised to 125%. Now to panic buy?

I think it’s already to late for that.

The tariffs were put on hold yet bambu lab still added a higher price.

China is excluded from the pause.

As @nisparks says, China tariffs weren’t put on hold and were actually increased today.

The 10% tariff that was first applied to other countries is still in effect so there are higher prices there too. The really onerous stuff was just put on hold for 90 days.

Anyone considering the panic buy in the US, just be aware, Wall Street is largely expecting the current level of tariffs to China to be prohibitive. Meaning they expect a lot of Chinese products to stop flowing. Additionally, there is likely more posturing yet to come. 125% is likely not the end of the escalations in the near term.

To those of us already in the ecosystem its not good. Let’s just hope, they can find a way forward and that the current posturing is just that, a posturing show.

Repair parts, even at 2x the current price, are usually not a lot of money. Filament prices will rise for Americans, but probably at a lower rate than 2x.

I feel the problem is more for business use that was planning to add machines, or that use a lot of filament.

Prusa is probably a safer choice for a new printer. Although I assume they use a lot of Chinese parts.

I think Bambu plans, at this point, to continue to absorb part of the tariff cost while continuously evaluating what makes the best long term strategy.

It’s gonna be like 3, until Trump is gone

I hate tariffs, they are somewhat useless!!!

There’s an article that shippers are just turning shipments in transit over to the container ships they are being carried on because of the tariffs which the trump administration has just said are at 145%.

Because of the massive inventory losses many companies may fail and some will likely be US companies that manufacture in China. That’ll make for fun news stories.

Because of the Trump tax, the price has more than doubled due to tariffs.
