…the hidden female μUSB and button located behind the plastic guard in the upper front left corner of the X1C is for?
yes, I do know what but guess what…
Pretty sure it was used to flash the ap board at the factory.
What? WHAT?!?! Don’t leave a brotha in suspense like this!
I can come up with plenty of “pretty sure” scenarios on my own, I don’t need/want more people to chime in and spitball what-ifs, I need/want someone who KNOWS FOR SURE
It connects directly to the Rockchip CPU and with the right drivers gives you a USB ethernet adapter (amongst other things). You can ftp to the printer (192.168.234.100 IIRC) via this wired USB ethernet interface (or at least you could last time I tried).
It’s not all that useful without full access to the (closed source) firmware on the CPU.
Pressing the button on boot puts it into a firmware flashing mode or something - I never really investigated this. It gives you some info via the UART port (also on that board) during boot. The UART is disabled as soon as the machine finishes booting.
Wasn’t trying to be rude or n00b, just being straight forward hoping someone had maybe had some issue that customer service had had them use the port or button, who also reads this forum and would be able to tell me for 1000% certainty, and actually I did respond to olias with a request for more information instead of a dangling carrot though he never replied
