Anyone want to discuss the "Share Your Interaction Experience" survey?

I just filled the survey, and my main comment is to have a “Work in Progress” option for designs and allow for slicing in mobile. Has anyone else answered the survey and what did you suggest?

I mean if its work in progress just make it private? not sure why people would be uploading unfinished models to MW

And i don’t think you’re going to get proper decent slicing in mobile, its why they generally slice it in the cloud and you just use handy to send the right profile to your machine

As for the survey, couldn’t really think of anything that i think the site is desperately missing, has ratings and comments and thats about all most of us need

Unless I’m mistaken other users aren’t able to view private designs/profiles.

What I failed to mention is that the “Work in Progress” suggestion is for the occasions where users ask for a modification or completely new design which I don’t want to print and test myself, but don’t mind helping someone else out.

I slice most of my files on a 13 year old laptop just fine. I bet most iPhones since the X and most mid-range android phones from the last 3 years have more compute power than my laptop. Even if not, since as you state, Bambu Lab already slice every 3mf file we upload to a profile to make available for Handy users, on demand slicing from mobile could help bring more users to BL. I just think it would be more cost effective if slicing could be done on device.

I also recommended to split ratings from comments. I think comments are more conducive to creator-user interaction than ratings are.

I bet most iPhones since the X and most mid-range android phones from the last 3 years have more compute power than my laptop.

Compute power isn’t the real issue, imagine trying to paint proper supports or paint models etc on a 6inch screen, it can be annoying enough on a full sized client, you realistically aren’t getting the full slicer experience to work on something that small without it turning in to an absolute clunky mess

So yeah i doubt thats really on anyones priority list right now, cloud slicing is about as good as you’re going to get and even then thats going to be a very limited set of options

There is also the fact that the majority of users are likely not interested in changing settings or deviating from what handy is telling them, if the mobile app is your main playground you’re likely just printing random toys or trinkets and won’t need to adjust any of the slicer settings

And ratings are already split, you can post a comment on a model without leaving a rating but any rating you do give is shown as a comment incase the user wants to appeal it with bambu, for example 1 user out of 10,000 giving a 1 star vs all the 5 stars would generally indicate an issue with that user or printer rather than the model itself, otherwise the ratings would mostly be anonymous and you would have no way to rate and provide feedback in the same post

As for the WIP, you can just add that as an extra standalone file and it would only matter to that 1 user not the rest of the people downloading the other model or you can just send them the file directly if you’re not planning on uploading it yourself, as part of the rules for uploading any print profile is that you have verified that its printable so by uploading something you don’t intend to print you would technically be breaking the rules in the first place

I give you that, although I do believe a touchscreen could be an easier tool to move the view around than the mouse. A limited slicer could also work, and for more advanced stuff you’d have to go to a computer.

I agree with you, but I do believe some of those users might want/wish something different they don’t have the skill to do, but are willing to invest in filament and feedback.

Thingiverse still has the Makes and the Comments split, Printables has them mixed. I think splitting them gets you more interaction with the comments and a better user experience by checking the ratings and makes when you want to confirm the model is what you expect.

I do send the file directly through the chat, that requires the user to have a computer with Bambu Studio to test the profile sent. I’m not arguing this shouldn’t be a hurdle a user should have to overcome in order to get help with the design. I just propose that maybe the WIP option might make the Creator-User interaction more streamlined, allowing for more creators who don’t mind helping out the users, to do so with a whole system in place, that eventually ends up in a better experience for the user and boost/points/karma/satisfaction reward for the creator.

My workflow right now entails asking the user for print photos that I add to my design and publish. In case a “work in progress” design gets a certain threshold of confirmed prints with photos, then the design could graduate to “Tested and Working” without the need of uploading photos of the print by the creator.

Who knows? Maybe even a “Bounty” system where users pledge points or boosts towards a design they want, and creators claiming the bounties when satisfied.

Just spitballing with the idea that applies to me and may apply to many others.

Who would decide whether a model fulfills the bounty? Creators could claim irrelevant bounties to get the points, and users could refuse to mark it as complete so they don’t need to give up the points.

Maybe not make it about the points then, make it about community, as you say, we’ve all watched people abuse the system time and time again.

This is not abusing a system… this is simply misaligned incentives. But like you already said…
