Are arc overhangs coming to Bambu studio?

Hi

Ive seen a lot of interesting things about Arc overhangs and I was wondering if there was any word on grapevine as to if/when Bambu studio might be able to implement these?

There are tickets for implementing it in both Bambu Studio and OrcaSlicer.

Oh. That’s good thanks. Hopefully it won’t take too long to implement, it looks like it could be super handy

ARC was implemented already in Orca, scroll down the Quality tab, I don’t use BBS so I have no way of checking it, but it would be a massive oversite if BBS didn’t have it also

How well does it work? I’m guessing it doesn’t totally eradicate the need for supports entirely does it?

No but again it helps but the weight and surface area of the model matter more

I can’t find it. It does have “Make overhangs printable” which is (I believe) not quite the same. But that one is also good to have!

Well, scroll down to the very last entry in the advanced subsection

Thanks, OK that one I do have. But it isn’t called arc overhang and it doesn’t produce arcs… From the preview looks of it, I can’t see it working - tries to draw a bridge ending 15 mm out in mid air. It does look like it could help in some situations though.

Tell you the truth, I bet BBL won’t want arc overhangs. 'Cause if they implemented it into BBS, where would the market of support material and pva go?

Imo, the people who use support material will likely continue to use it because they may need it for certain prints that can’t be done even with arc overhangs. Those who don’t use it/avoid using supports as much as possible/don’t have prints that need supports as much, would probably be the ones who would use the feature the most.

Good point, but it has been 2 years since this topic started, and BBL has NOT taken notice. Orca implementation is a fail for me due to system problems, and I’m still tweaking with superpleccer. I bet BBL’s solution is “Buy an H2D (the new one), and print support material with dual nozzles!”
