I haven’t looked at them yet myself so I’m not sure if they’re using any more than just the bottom shell
Oh yes they are ^^`
This one is a reupload and/or a remixe (not 100% if it’s remixed since the previous upload was deleted)
And those loo looks strangely similar
The rules for this contest specifically state:
- Models uploaded as Remix and Share will be ineligible to be considered for winning.
BL have stated that only the upcoming Parametric contest will allow remixes.
Hi, for this contest you just need to design a new top shell. You can use the original Bambu Lab- Wireless Mouse Bottom Shell.
That doesn’t say the top shell can be a remix though
Correct, I missed the topic.
Thanks for asking, and sorry for the confusion caused.
For this contest, we will not remove any remixes from the contest page due to the level of difficulty and sophistication this theme warrants, and our objective for this contest is to offer our users more options to choose from when they are considering using our mouse kit. However, whether these remixes will be selected as winners for the contest will be determined by the variety and quantity of entries submitted when this contest concludes. We are thrilled about seeing more original designs entering the contest.
Our contest rules will be updated soon to accommodate this. Again, we appreciate your concern and continued support!
Thank you for those clarifications.
But I have already reported all of them anyway because they are not uploaded as remixes and because most of the time thier license aren’t respecting the original model license.
You should at least remove those that don’t have physical images.
I also have to adhere to the rules and used at least 1.5 kg of filament for the test prints. Accessory parts are also not part of the contest. Please remain consistent.
Please enforce participants to set their contest model as remix when it’s the case. And force them to respect the license terms of the original model.
Just because remixes are allowed for once in a contest doesn’t give a free pass to do anything with licensing.
On the contrary, it is the ideal opportunity to educate users on the matter
Leaving this as is gives a bad image on the contest and sets a bad example for the entire community to follow.
So please, ask to all of them to set the correct upload type and the correct license on their model
For this competition, everything is tolerated. This includes designs that without physical images.
I think this contest would have been far better and promoted a wide variety of designs if remixes were banned here as they are for almost every contest.
Throwing a few holes in the original model doesn’t innovate. It simply means there will be a significant number or widely inane designs that offer nothing.
Will we have to wade through 500 models that are 99% the same as the original to find one that someone actually designed?
I thought this contest would provide a really good design objective where true quality is available to see and the fact that fewer people would enter would be a good thing.
The bar doesn’t constantly have to be lowered.
There is no way I have the design skills to win this contest. That is a good thing!
Also, the models MUST have printed evidence including an actual mouse kit fitted to the design. Otherwise, you will have poor unsuspecting users downloading something that can’t be printed and/or capable of using the mouse kit. This results in a total waste of filament, time, energy, and a good contest idea.
All winning models MUST be printed by BL and certified they can be printed and do work with the mouse kit to qualify.
The animals contest requires cute animals, but, a contest aimed at working with a hardware kit must actually work with the hardware kit, don’t you think?
I totally agree with you.
I also reported all of the remixes, and find it unfair to those who are respecting the rules. I haven’t uploaded my own yet because I’m perfecting my prints to be easy and printable by users still, spending time and filament on test prints, making changes and refining each step.
The worst, as mentioned above, is the tolerance of remixes not being uploaded as remixes - in general this is a problem on makerworld when models, like some I’ve uploaded myself, are allowed to remain on the site without proper attribution, despite the Creative Commons license requirement. I have reported these unattributed models, and none of the reports have received any response from BL. To BL’s credit, the models I’ve reported that did not have physical photographs were taken down.
You are doing the right thing and the right way.
Remixes, especially the lazy ones are cheating.
I understand BL saying the bottom of the original model can be used as it simplifies the process for those less capable at technical, but, good at the creative design.
If I enter (still not decided), I will be engineering the whole thing as I believe that gives a greater challenge. Plus, my likely creative design element will be baaaaad!
I think one reason as to why people aren’t uploading their design as a remix is you can’t enter contests with your model set as remix. Once entered I believe you can go back and change that though.
That’s probably why you aren’t seeing the models taken down by the staff as this contest has to bend their own rules for it to have any entries.
Anyone want to verify/test this?
If that the case they could send a message to the participants asking them to update their model.ayne they don’t care too much about thier mouse design being remixed but they are remixes form other designer as well.
Quite frankly, I don’t think I will upload a design for this contest. If it’s to see my design being remixed and uploaded as an original with most probably the wrong license attached to it.
I’m more upset about the overarching abuse of Creative Commons license and Remix attribution and referencing in posted models in the first place. I have reported dozens of models that have ripped off my designs, I’m not mad that they remixed, remixes are part of our community - but I as others do, require attribution, it is the LEAST they can do. Yet many do not, they simply steal and get away with it, earning Boosts, and downloads, and now getting more visibility on these contest pages. The problem is a stated policy that @BambuLab needs to enforce. Of the many models I’ve reported, if a model has no physical photograph, usually within a few minutes it’s taken down, and I’m notified. That’s great! that’s an easy one, so why are ZERO of the remixes without attribution taken down?
I just got one of these guys to go to my model and make a rude comment because my design passed his “design” on the trending. Saying my design is stupid and pointless and being super disrespectful.
Then, I went to the comments on the current most trending model, and here is the same guy posting something jealous and negative.
These people are just doing whatever it takes to farm points.
