I use the standard Bambu Studio ASA settings but change the infill pattern to something non crossing.

silly question does the ps1 automatically turn on chamber fan im coming from p1p and a1 so p1s is all new to me. do your pre charge the chamber temp before you print the asa? i did print a small clip in abs yesterday came out pretty good

Set the bed to 100, turn on the aux fan and home the machine (so the bed comes to the top). Let this sit for 15ish minutes. The P series doesn’t have a chamber temp sensor but a simple work around is to check the what the nozzle temp is in Bambu Studio. When the nozzle isn’t on it will follow pretty closely to what the chamber temp is at. You can also add a stand alone temp display that is viewable via the onboard camera.

The warmer chamber temp will well help stop any warping. Also make sure you don’t have the chamber or aux fan on during printing. Make sure the top is on and the door remains closed.

Yes the printer has a carbon filter but there are several issues.

A. It isn’t enabled by default.

Once enabled you can adjust its operation in Filament Settings

B. Enabling the “Exhaust” fan during printing of ABS/ASA will decrease the camber temperature as it draws in cooler outside air. The problem with this is that it can cause part warping and adhesion issues.

If the smell really bothers you can print/buy a “BentoBox ” which is a similar carbon filter but it recirculates the air inside the chamber instead of exhausting it.

In my opinion the chamber fan doesn’t meet the requirements to deal with the fumes while printing with ABS/ASA. There are better ways of dealing with the fumes with items like the Bentobox, external enclosures or even whole room filtration. Each person should deal with the fumes to the level that they are comfortable with.

I have posted here on this forum about how I work with the fumes of ABS/ASA.

For me this is a hobby not a job. I dont print everyday and im not in a hurry to get a project off the build plate to get on with the next project.

This is my setup for my print/hobby room and house.

I find Bambu Labs ABS products very offensive for me. So! I bought this for my printing room. I had this installed for my house HVAC system. My printing room is also part of my houses HVAC system. Works great for me.

@Barryg41 Are you happy with the results it’s giving you?

During the winter I moved my X1C into a spare bathroom to get it out of the too cold garage and to to leverage the bathrooms vent fan. Well, it does work, but it tends to pull at least some of its make-up air from outside, which drives up the humidity in this temporary printer room, so that’s a downside. Something like this, though, wouldn’t be pulling any make-up air, so no increase in humidity.

Living in Louisiana means inside humidity is always above 50% . Its why I keep the system i use to keep my filament dry. The cereal boxes from Amazon.

Even my Qidi is printing from a dry box. Its the one that came with printer.

I am very happy with my setup. As of right now, i would not change anything.

So finally bit the bullet and replaced my carbon rods, first successful print with ABS ever.
Support ticket has been open since 2024-05-15 and support finally decided to ship new rods, I already bought the replacement myself, so with a bit of luck I can return the ones support ships me and get a refund on those.
