ASA-AERO just SUCKS

I read this with interest. I live in Bermuda. High humidity. I dried my filament in a dryer at 55 degrees for over 15hrs because my dryer only goes to 55 degrees. However, i have printed several planes with Bambu labs ASA Aero and had great results. Some stringing, yes, but that is expected. Light sanding for painting and the surface was smooth. I have used LW-PLA but prefer ASA aero. Its lighter and stronger

At what temperature did you find the best to print? I’ve got a couple of rolls with which I tried print a part which lifted at one corner, lack of time has put the print on the back burner for the summer months

Nozzle temp is 270 and bed temp. 90.

yeah total garbage imo… cant print good and the smell of it is just awfull… there is no way i can print this in my house, smell is horrible

I agree. Dont matter how long/high I cook it for, it still prints like trash. From the documentation the object has to be a single layer shell that is hallow. Whats the point? useless ■■■■ like bambu CS

The picture looks like the print is too cold i.e. the part cooling fan is on all the time, try turning all cooling off and print just the smallest part to see how it turns out, the adjust settings accordingly.

Try Bed at 95C Nozzle 250~260

Incidentally what’s your nozzle and Bed temperature set to and what’s your cooling set to?

I’m asking as I’ll be looking to print with the same filament soon…

ive tried all temps possible… with and without cooling… tried temp towers… manually tune the filament, it just does the same as image always or it will be very brittle

Infill 3%, 1 wall, 2 top, and 2 bottom layers… dried and calibrated filament.

And THATS the problem. My parts needs to be more than one wall and 3 percent. If i have to detune my part to work for the filament - THE FILAMENT IS NOT WORKING! so lame and stupid. Im also sick and fing tired of this new verification code system. ■■■■ your ■■■■ bambu labs. its going downhill quicker than an avalanche.

Odd… I would think that is a clogged nozzle or partially clogged nozzle. But it shouldn’t be clogging with an ASA. Its almost like the temp settings are in the wrong operating window.

I would do two things as a sanity check. Update to a recent Bambu Studio version (if you are using an old version the ASA profile might have been tweaked) and do a cold pull through the nozzle (doesn’t have to be ASA Aero). Maybe there is a little bit of stuck PLA or something incompatible.

Personally, I never got a chance to print my ASA Aero, so I can’t say from experience, but that definitely looks odd. I’d say its heat creep but that shouldn’t be a worry in ASA. But to rule that out you could use some glue and drop the bed temp by 10-15C and see if the chamber can stay cool enough to avoid that.

So, the documentation says “it has to be a single layer shell that is hollow”, and you are trying to print exactly not that…, and its Bambu’s fault?

I fail to understand that logic.

I’ve not noticed the “must be a single layer/shell” mentioned, but then, really the sole purpose of this filament is airplanes, and solid, heavy parts defeat the point, so I’ve not tried it.

Well since I am trying to print an RC airplane that throws your logic out.

The filament is utter ■■■■ and its for making a hot air balloon and thats pretty much it.

My plane requires parts being added and it bolts together, not glued. For bambu to say this works for planes is a flat out LIE.

This filament is not ready for production by any means.

Correct, I was trying to print a helicopter fuselage, that I have had it printed without any problems with other filaments. It may only work for continued print and NO supports, if the nozzle leaves the print for anything it will be a spaghetti mess. My two spools are with UPS returning to BambuLab for refund at moment, will see what kind of refund it will be.

Why did you tape the door? Is the draft really that bad? I have a seal on mine that I printed from a profile off MakerWorld.
