Any time I print ASA the print goes fine and completes as normal. However when I print PLA afterwards it ALWAYS jams and cannot pull back out of the head. I’m not using any crazy profile or anything. It’s like it doesn’t purge enough ASA out of the nozzle before switching. Has anyone encountered this problem. I really wish there were just a button after printing ASA or PC to just really blow out everything for 2 or 3 grams. Or keep the temp high when it makes that switch. I’ve seen the same thing happen with PC too.
You should check your cutter.
The filament in the hot area should not be mechanically linked to the filament above it after the cut happens. And I dont have an X1c, but on the P1s and A1, the last action of a print is to cut+park.

How soon after printing ASA are you printing the PLA?
My experience is that a chamber temperature much north of 35C will cause PLA to heat-creep and jam.
When I print something requiring higher chamber temps [like ASA] followed by PLA - I leave the door open and point a fan at the machine to help the inside cool down and I don’t usually start the print until the chamber temp reads 30C or lower.

Thanks for the responses. I suspect Mike is probably correct for the cause. Usually I’m switching pretty soon after finishing a print. What happens is the filament will bulge at the interface between the extruder gear assembly and the top of the nozzle assembly and once that happens its too big to back out and too big to push through. Usually I have to take the whole toolhead apart to remove the bulged section of filament.

Yeah, you’ll need to let things cool down after printing ASA or ABS before going back to PLA.
Preferably print your PLA before ABS/ASA if possible.
I tend to use my A1 Minis for PLA prints if I can and then my enclosed printers for ABS/ASA.
Have the same problem have over 1000 hours on my H2S. But, I’m confused, I have the same issue. Print ASA, finishes the print, everything is fine, then I get an extruder jam notification. When the print is done the machine automatically attempts to rewind the ASA. So I don’t get what people are talking about using the cutter!! But this is getting really old. I can print everything else, repeatedly, with no issues. But every time I use ASA, with the presets for the filament, Jam. I have to disassemble the whole thing, blow it out, poke around, then it’s good for ONE PRINT. Is there actually a fix or setting that will eliminate this? Originally I ran 3 rolls of ASA though with no issues. Ever since the first jam, its an every print thing. HELP!!!
