Automatic supports AND manual supports where needed

Imagine a rather complex print that requires a lot of supports.
Using the standard ones would waste a ton of filament, so of course you opt for planting some trees.
You can find a ton of Youtube videos and Reddit post where people tell you all about how bad the Bambu slicer is for supports…
What you won’t find though is any of those people having checked what actually IS possible…

I agree that the tree branches are not always ideal, especially for complicated overhangs like you often encounter on figurines and such.
Quite often the branches are set so complex that the removal means finding the best way through a maze.
We can’t really do much about that one other than changing the min diameter for the branches and mating areas.
The big issue of automatic supports missing too many areas however CAN BE addressed.

If you set manual supports you paint the areas you think require it and you can have the overhangs highlighted to find them easier.
Lets say the automatic supports left out the pointy tip of a horizontal and free hanging bit of the print.
Note the spot and check for more.
Once you located all problem spots that need additional support go back to manual supports and paint those areas - only those you want to add.
Now start the automatic support generation again and you can see added supports where you painted.

I know it is far from being a solution, not even a great workaround but it works…

That seems exactly what I am searching:
Adding manual supports where they lacks by automatic placement without redefining manually all the automatic supports.
