Hello people,
Well, I’ve just bought an X1 Carbon.
On install, what am I going to look out for? What’s the traps for young players?

Welcome!
Make sure you have removed ALL the screws holding down the bed. Check the bed for flatness - some people received a significantly warped bed, most have not. Do use the provided glue stick on the “Cool Plate”, Print startup makes some odd vibrating noises, as well as a sharp “thock” as part of the nozzle cleaning step - don’t be alarmed.
Have fun and stock up on filament, as you’ll be printing a lot.
Thanks holmes4.
I am looking forward to getting used to it. I’m a Mech Eng student at Uni so we do a lot of Solidworks 3D CAD.

Well, I received the printer and it looks great! Hopefully, it prints as good as it looks.
Some noob questions though:-
I presume the filament needs a bit of low temp ‘cooking’ to drive off any moisure. Once done, is it sufficient to store the filament in a sealed bag with desiccant?
There was a note on the hot bed saying to apply some glue prior to first use as adhesion may occur between the workpiece and the bed. Any suggestions about this?
Thanks
G
Yes, a sealed bag with desiccant is fine. The printer comes with a glue stick.
