Awfully slow dialogue boxes on A1 mini UI since last update

a1 series is the best one for casual 3d printing and just enjoying the hobby

They didnt even fixed this issue in the latest firmware update just locked down the 3rd party software i dont like how they are not focusing on things which are more important
Guys if you face the issue you can downgrade to older version and things should work as normal, my bambu handy app still work with older version so i am going to stick with it as long as possible

Just got mine a few weeks ago and haven’t noticed the issue.

That depends on firmware - mine are slow with the newest non-auth firmware

Updated my mini to the new 1.06.00 firmware earlier and the dialog boxes are probably worse if anything. Starting to think they’re mining crypto on the sly.

This still exist in 1.07. Reported the bug and they answered me they won’t fix it.

“To reserve more CPU performance for newly added printer features, we have sacrificed some animation smoothness.”

It’s outragous. Since 1.04 the whole filament loading process is a pain because of these slow dialog boxes…

I was able to solve the verrrrrrrrrry slooooooooooooow dialogs in the A1 by replacing it with a P2S.

what features? haven’t seen any that would require burning cpu cycless… unless they can’t optimize for sh…

What’s even stranger is it’s still really slow even when the printer’s not doing anything else…like I understand if you’re mid-print and change filament at a paused layer, but not when you’re idling.

Either you’re right and they suck at optimisation, orr, they’re using everyone’s dormant CPU power to run some nefarious stuff in the background, like a huge network of printers mining crypto or something. I just leave my A1 mini on all the time and let it go to sleep, I bet many others do the same too…

Anyway, that’s the end of my conspiracy. I mean if it is just bloated firmware then at least let us buy an upgraded board?

My theory it’s only because of the images. Maybe it always download it with a slow connection. After factory reset I didn’t put my printer on wifi and there was no images in the dialog boxes and it loaded with decent speed.

You all may want to submit a ticket to BL, because my A1 works just fine, I skipped firmware 1.06 because it was buggy, running 1.07+ now.

Is the filament load/unload dialogs works for you with normal speed? It was only good for me before 1.04 becuase it didn’t had images. Now it almost render it line by line even on 1.07 and the support said it’s normal and they won’t fix it.

Gaboros
You are talking about the little screen on the printer, correct. Do you have an A1 or A1 mini? (shouldn’t make any difference though). Are you loading and unloading filament using that screen? Are you using an AMS Lite, or external spool? I could take a video to show you how my works. I don’t know what normal speed is. I never ran firmware 1.04, I started with 1.05 skipped 1.06 because it was buggy, waited until 1.07+ came out and now I am using it.

I think I found a workaround! In printer’s sd card go to image/hms and replace the images with a simple white pixel. Don’t delete the images because the printer will download it again, but seems like replacing with a very small image does the trick. At least it wasn’t replaced for me for now. The dialog boxes are fast now because they don’t load these images.

Glad you found a work around that works for you

I’m getting something similar on my A1 mini, I wonder if the pics that are included are higher res/quality than they need to be in order to be displayed on the small screen.

Nice job on finding the workaround, I’m going to try something similar but with small thumbnails replacing the full pics and see if this helps.

This is brilliant, THANKS, I replaced the images With a black one pixel, i found 4 images in the folder do you have any idea how many there can be in total?

I’ve had my Mini a few months now and it’s always been laggy on any dialogue boxes (to the point I tend to just go back over to my laptop and do stuff from there), and it’s up to date with firmware etc - but I was setting up one for my daughter’s Xmas present yesterday and hers is incredibly responsive compared to mine.

Thank you so much! This has been troubling me for awhile and 1 of 2 things fix it for me. First it was what you suggested which seemed to make things faster than even new. Second I couldnt get my PC to recognize the SD card so I formatted it and before I did I noticed it was full so this could have been causing the issue.

Don’t know if others have noticed yet, but the latest firmware update (1.08) seems to have completely fixed this issue
