Baby wipes anyone?

Wasn’t quite awake I guess when trying to quickly clean my plate this morning.
No clue why but there was a pack of wet wipes next to the IPA ones I used it…
Saw right away that the foaming and staying wet can’t be right but to my utter surprise most of the good and gunk came off right away.
My first baby bum clean and smooth plate - lovely…
But the thing was slippery as hell to say it nicely.
Cleaned off with soapy water though.

Wasn’t quite sure what to make of it and with another plate in need of cleaning I quickly went and bought some more wet wipes.
This time tough I opted for the ‘organic’ ones free of additives, cleaning stuff, fragrances and such, just the cloth and well, water in them.
Added a drop of dishwashing on the plate, put it on table and started to use the folded and more or less dripping cloth.
Who would have thought those things work even better than a microfibre cloth…
What I found best though was the dry hands effect you otherwise get from a dry microfibre cloth.
These sheets pick up on every tiny print residue stuck in the belly of the textured PEI.
Feels rough, sounds like ripping, keep going until it is fine LOL
Now wondering if I should add a few drops of dishwashing liquid to some water and add that to the pack to have it even easier.
Soap cloth, alcohol cloth, done…

I’m gonna go get some baby wipes now! :stuck_out_tongue: lol

Great story, but a soft cotton cloth with dish soap and warm water does it every time for me. I do rinse and dry thoroughly afterward.

What wasn’t said before, is the prerequisite of first acquiring a baby before acquiring baby wipes:wink:

Damn, NOW you are saying that…
Hmm…
It is a nice and sunny day, I might have to check down at the park if I can pick up a baby.
There is always some laying around there in prams and such.
Just not sure if the parent agrees and even if they do > What do I do with a baby once it is in the printer???
Don’t see how this helping with printing issues, sorry.
But I am an old fart and the brain is getting a bit slow…

Wipe the the wipes on the baby’s bottom, and the baby’s bottom on the plate, et voila, problem solved

I tried them once, but forgot that they had Aloe in them & it soaped up pretty bad.
At the time, I couldn’t find any plain wipes so I never tried it again.
I guess I should head to the local BBQ place for lunch & grab some

Which brand of babies were they?
:upside_down_face:

Just a generic grocery store brand.

Do you think it would be ok to use Alcohol-based hand wipes like these? or no?

Alcohol wipes a nice and I often use them.
But be aware that there IS a lot to consider/test.
Those cheap, general use ones usually are Ethanol based, meaning they have to have something in it to make sure people won’t abuse it.
Added Methanol is no problem, added bittering agents or such can be.
I buy the smallest possible packet size if there is no chance to check them in store and try them on a clean mirror first.
If all the wet stuff dries off with no visible residue the wipes are good.
And haze, streaks and rings from dried off droplets mean I use them for other things and find a different product to try.

Those alcohol wipes that come with IPA (isopropanol) on the label usually have nothing else but water added.
Does not mean all are equal or perfect for the job though as even some of these can leave a residue or haze.
If you already invested into a canister of IPA to save money and it is is not leaving any residue I guess the easiest option is to go with these ‘water only’ wipes for the extra sensitive babies/elderly.
Leave the pack open in a warm or sunny place and once dried up enough just add enough IPA to ensure all wipes are well saturated.
Good IPA wipes can be quite costly depending on where in the world you are…
And even than some manufactures provide IPA for just cleaning use, or worse rubbing alcohol that is IPA based.
Some of these come with additives, scents or such that will always mean you leave a haze on the plate.

Thanks for the reply! I have not purchased any yet, I like your suggestion!

I know where you’re coming from
I was lucky that I already suitable alcohol wipes.
But they are IPA based and cost quite a bit more than those 'cleaning and sanitising) ones.
Still have some shipments I am waiting on to see if there is any dirt cheap alcohol based wipes that won’t make a mess or leave a residue.
Considering I have a near full 4L canister of Methanol sitting around I think I will just buy a few more boxes of the hydro wipes while their on special and add Methanol as required.
Bit different to IPA and Ethanol but still does a good job, just a bit on the nasty side health wise :frowning:
Got it at a really reasonable price though.

If you want to look them up to find a cheap deal look for “water wipes” with you favourite search engine.
Now that I saw the regular prices I think I really got a bargain for my 400 wipe pack and paying just 8 bucks…
But I guess if one has some dried up alcohol wipes they could be ‘refilled’ with just water and a few drops of dishwashing liquid.
Those water wipes have a different texture though…
