My son asked me something that I think he is quite right. Why we have only 4 speed selections in run time? 50%, 100%, 140%, 160%. Some situations, asks to reduce the speed during printing, mostly when you know that particular layer or area being printed are fragile or prone to fail. So, from 100% to 50% is a big step, maybe some intermediate speeds like 80% or 70% will be nice to have. I don’t believe in 160%, I would have 125% and 150%. So, it will be nice to have 50%, 75%, 100%, 125%, 150%, or maybe a slide bar selection from 50 to 150% in 10% steps.
you shouldn’t be really using the speed adjustments on the machine/smartphone app. i know i know – it sound silly but unless you’re willing to adjust the temperature of the filament its more or less useless outside of the quiet mode.
if you want finer speed control you should learn to use bambu studio or orca slicer.
Thanks for answer.
I understand the speeds could be set before slicing and send the file to printer.
I was saying about changing speed while printing, in run mode. If I see a part of printing material, like support for instance, almost detaching on every pass, sometimes reducing the overall speed during printing will avoid to break that support, saving the whole printing. It is not rare for me to select 50% or 140% after or before some layers, in order to make sure it prints nice or to speeds up when I feel it is safe to do. Those decisions sometimes cannot be done before the run starts.
You can adjust the speed of the print in a slicer as well for individual segments including supports using modifiers.
