Bambu Filament Recycler

I believe a Bambu filament recycler would be a game-changer for the 3D printing community. With other companies exploring similar solutions, it raises the question: why doesn’t Bambu Lab have one yet? The demand for such a product would be immense; if released, it would likely sell out immediately. This innovation would align perfectly with Bambu Lab’s commitment to pushing boundaries in 3D printing technology.

@BambuLab, is this exciting project something you’re actively working on?

Show how much you would enjoy this product through this poll:

  • Yes! This would be the perfect add-on to our community.
  • No. This would over complicate things and waste money.

Because right now they are not reliable nor economical.

But they are simple and the purpose of Bambulabs isn’t to replicate other companies’ designs, but to come up with their own, which could be reliable and economical.

@ElektroQuark, do you know if they are attempting to create a filament recycler?

No idea. I’m a simple forum user.

@BambuLab, are you creating one?

@ElektroQuark, you created a poll here: Would you like a Bambu Studio Web version? is there any way you could do the same for this topic?

You can add it by yourself in the first message if you want. Edit it, click in the gear and select “Build Poll”.

I’d like to hear more about this. If any of the ones (two) that I’ve seen ads for are any indicator, they are anything but. Just going by their astronomical price.

I could build one myself if I had the time. Just a couple of stepper motors, a thermistor, a heat gun, a hopper for filament, and a 1.75 mm metal hole. I have everything except for that last item.

@BambuLab, just look at the poll: 91% “Yes”, 9% “No.” There is a clear winner.

Just because 25 customers want something doesn’t mean Bambu cares or has the time or motivation to do it. They will lose money of filament sales, in addition to having to maintain a new product line. Bambu is in the business of of selling printers, not experimental accessories. I think we are more likely to see a makers supply kit for one than a fully built one.

Another thing that they could do is have some kind of small injection moulding machine for poops. I would love a small, home use machine to cut down on the masses of poop/ waste that I have just taking up space.
I think that would be more likely as it wouldn’t reduce filament sales and its an area of the market that hasn’t really had much done with it.
