Bambu Firmware Bug Reporting Thread

Problem: LAN mode not working
Firmware Version: 01.05.02.00
Printer: Bambu Lab P1S

Steps to reproduce:

Navigate to the “Settings” section
Select “WLAN”
Select “LAN Only Mode”, then select “yes”
Now open Bambu Studio on your device, and navigate to “Device”

Now there is no option to operate the printer in LAN mode, rendering the LAN mode completely useless. Also, turning it to LAN mode unbinds it from your Bambu account, and makes it very difficult to rebind it. I really want to see this fixed, so I don’t have to use a micro sd card for printing things.

Problem : Upgraded firmware now it won’t turn on
Firmware Version : ??
Printer : Bambu Lab A1
Steps to reproduce : N/A

The power indicator at the back ahows a light but the front power indicator doesn’t, nor does the display turn on.

Problem: PA profiles are lost after power outage
Firmware Version: 01.08.00.00
Printer: Bambu Lab X1-Carbon
Steps to reproduce:

  1. Perform Flow Dynamics calibration for a filament
  2. Start printing any model from that filament using created PA profile
  3. Turn printer off simulating power outage
  4. Turn printer on
  5. Resume printing
  6. Check PA profile for the filament is “none” and there is NO way to adjust it without canceling the print job
  7. As a result, observe corrupted model

Other information:
For some filaments and models the result of resuming the job may be acceptable but most of the time the printed item is trashed.

I’d expect 2 ways of fixing the issue:

  1. Give a way to adjust PA profile after power outage before resuming the print
  2. Fix the firmware in a way that PA profiles are not lost after power outage

Thank you!

While you are waiting for a fix, use OrcaSlicer to enable PA and set your PA values in the User filament profiles. These settings will not go away with a power outage. If you allow Studio and OrcaSlicer to sync profiles through Bambu cloud, Studio will use those values in the g-code it generates, overriding any K values shown on the device tab. Makerworld models sliced in the Bambu cloud and printed without using Studio will NOT use the user presets.

Bugs reported here are seldom seen or acted on by the Bambu developers. They are a bit more responsive to issues posted on Github.

@lkraus Thank you very much for the hint with OrcaSlicer. Will try it.
Reported the bug on Github as well.

Cheers!

A1 loosing connection to Bambu Studio after upgrades
Ok here is exactly the scenario, Printer in LAN mode only. File is sliced and send to printer via wifi. After the file is sent to the printer successfully. The printer looses connection with bambu studio and displays a “Wrong Password” error message.
The printer having received the file begins to process the print. But Bambu Studio can no longer communicate with the printer until I re-enter the password and then it will connect and start working normally.
This happens every time I send a print.

The Print does run successfully but this is something I haven’t seen before
Thanks

This is on a P1S latest firmware 01.06.01.00 (20240722).

The machine can crash the Z axis on the top of the machine.

This happens for example if you do a factory reset when the bed is near the top. On power-on fresh it will quickly move the bed upwards and smash in to the top, grinding away. Sounds horrible of course.

Problem: MQTT print speed setting type confusion bug
Firmware Version: 01.06.01.00 (P1 series)
Printer: P1 series, but might affect others too
Steps to reproduce:

  1. Connect to the printer via MQTT.
  2. Send the following command to set the print speed to an incorrect value:
{
    "print": {
        "sequence_id": "0",
        "command": "print_speed",
        "param": "A" // this is usually a string containing
                     // a number from 1 (silent) to 4 (ludricious)
    }
}
  1. Observe the speed value shown on the printer and inside Bambu Studio / Bambu Handy. Notice that it has a strange value (in my case, 254% and 510%).

I also opened a topic on this issue here.

I had the recent upgrade date of this post is 27Aug2024. After the upgrade from my stock printer purchased last month I started to fail on every initial layer. Or so I thought. I decided to print a 3 layer rectangle and observe the print operation. The first layer was perfect. Th system finished the first layer and the I hit pause. n ot know that teh Lydar had to do its thing first. Once the lydar scan was done the hot end wen to the park location in the back of the printer. I took some photos and was surprised that the layer was great. I hit continue and noticed that the hot end chagned to 90 Deg C and started to cool and attempt to lay PLA. I shut down the printer becuase I did not want the hot end to get damaged. I thought there was a control to prevent cold extrusion. It would appear tha this firmware update has something wonky with it.
Now I know after looking at my failed first layers that the residual PLA on the Hotend wouidl cool down and scrape off the first layer. I remeber hearing a sort of grinding should which I thought was due to the speed. Mind you . i have not been printing other than with Bambe Basic PLA and stock parameters.
My first print out fo the system before the upgrade was great.
I’m about to do a stock benchy print to see if that resolves the issue.

If anyone has any recommendation or knows where in the software the GCODE is change to allow for cold extrusion and set the temperature to 90 deg C after the first layer print your help would be much appretiated.

Ty and have a blessed day!

FYI I reveted to the previous Firmware. Runing the benchy with that software from the X1 carbon printer interface.

After reverting to the old firmware my printer is back to stock. I do not recommend upgrading the firmware at all!

Problem: Printer cannot see network after updating firmware
Firmware Version: 01.08.02.00
Printer: X1C
Steps to reproduce: Update firmware to 01.08.02.00.
Printer does not show any of the locally visible SSIDs that it saw prior to the firmware update.

Factory reset solved issue with network visibility.

Problem: display heating icons inconsistent
Firmware Version: current
Printer: Bambu Lab X1-Carbon
Steps to reproduce:

The heating indicator for the nozzle seems to light up in orange in sync with Bambu Studio showing the same, but for the bed heater this isn’t the case. I normally see the heater status being off on the display while it is on in Bambu Studio. It appears the sttus in Bambu Studio is correct and the x1c display is not.

There is a bug in the display of the percentages of the chamber and auxiliary fans in Bambu Studio and Bambu Handy… For certain percentages that are specified in the filament profile, an incorrect value is displayed in the apps… However, the fans still have the correct speed…
