Bambu Handy Print Profiles (Print Time Increased)

Hello Everyone,
I am new to 3d printing, just got my first printer - Bambu A1.
So I setup my printer and downloaded Bambu Handy app and printed few amazing items straight from the app, using the print profiles from the designers.
If designers profile said it would print in 1 hour on A1, it exactly took 1 hour to print.

Fast forward to next week, when I downloaded Bambu studio on my computer and linked my printer to it. And spent some time watching videos, learning and playing around with a model.
And I decided I would use Bambu handy profiles for now, while I learn to use Bambu studio.
After all this when I sent my next print from Bambu handy app to A1, the time increased by about 25 percent. And not just on one print. Now whenever I try to send a print to A1 from Bambu handy, every print takes longer than what it says in the print profile of that print. For example, this print profile says it will take 4 hours to print and then I send it from my phone to printer, and after downloading and slicing - time will increase to 5 hours 10 minutes.
This is happening on every print I am trying from Bambu handy.
(Did I change some settings Bambu studio or something?)
Please help.
Thanks a lot for your help in advance. And I can’t wait to learn a lot of stuff about 3d printing.
Have a great day everyone.
Enjoy! YOLO

Firstly, welcome to the forum and the World of Bambu Lab (BL).

We can rule one thing out immediately, you doing something in Bambu Studio (BS) will not affect anything you do in Bambu Handy (BH).

Except (there is always one thing), if you change the speed choice in the Device tab using BS, this will tell the printer to honour that until you change it back.

So, you can check this by using BS:

  • Go to the third tab Device
  • Find the speedo icon on the right
  • Taping it
  • Make sure it is set to Standard & 100%, change it if not

You can also do this on the BL A1 screen before & during printing:

  • Find the Control tab
  • Tap it
  • Find the speedo icon
  • Make sure it says 100%
  • Tap it to see if it says Standard and change it if it does not

Print estimates

These are usually very close to reality. You must select the correct printer when using BH otherwise you may see the estimate for a different printer.

Depending on what you are printing, how many colours it has, and the size and shape of the model, each one of the printers BL sells might give a different estimate.

The choice of filament you use can also affect the actual time vs the estimate.

You will get the fastest prints if you use BL PLA filaments (almost all the sub-types). If you use filaments from other vendors, then any that say High-flow (HF), High-speed (HS) or Super-speed (SS) you will get the next fastest. Other PLA is faster than PETG which is faster than TPU.

The estimate shown on the screen is based on whatever filament the designer sets. If they had BL PLA Basic and you chose Giantarm PLA, your print will be slower.

As you have experienced a consistent speed change, I suspect the most likely issue is having accidentally changed the default speed.

Check that and report back here. I or whoever is around (it is 2 am where I am from) will suggest something else if this is not the solution.

Hi @MalcTheOracle
First of all, thanks a lot for your time especially at 2am.

So i checked in BS, BH and on A1 screen. Speedo setting is on standard or 100% everywhere.

In BH, I am always selecting A1 before selecting the print profile and sending the print. And I am using Bambu Matte Filament (that’s all I have for now) Also not doing multi colour prints for now.

So this is not just happening for new prints. I printed this pill box on very first day I got the printer thru BH in 2hrs 30minutes. And now when I send the same pill box, same profile, same filament - it says it’s gonna take 3hrs 7minutes. (See pics)

On small prints - no big deal. But I want to print this profile from BH which is suppose to take 5.5 hrs, but when I send it to print, it says it will take 7 plus hrs. Then I just cancel it.
What should I try next?

Hello, I am facing the same problem.
The problem started this week.
Visibly, from Handy, the printing speed is very low, compared to last week.
I updated the printer’s firmware thinking it might be a related issue, but I was unsuccessful.

Mine just started doing this this morning on a print that I have done 5 times already. It was about 3hours to print now it says 5 hours. Did you figure out what was wrong with the settings?

Having the same issue 4 hr print become 5.5 11 hr print is like 14

Just bought an A1 a month ago and noticed this as well. Has anyone found anything out? All of my longer prints seem to add over an hour to each or longer in some cases. All settings are correct. Thanks in advance!!

Hi All,

I have a similar problem. With Bambu Studio the time estimate is about right, give or take 5mins. In Bambu Handy it add several hours.

For example in a 24min print it says it would take 1h15min. It looks like it gets the speed down, although the speed is at 100% (on studio, on the app and on the printer).

I am pretty sure this happened after setting the speed down to 50% on the other day on the app. Maybe the Handy App has a bug?

I will try to reinstall the app to see if it solves the problem.

Regards,

P.

Ok… So after reinstalling the App I had the same problem. After some tinkering I’ve found that in Bambu Studio I had changed the PLA Type (it is not Bambu) and in Handy I had not. After changing it in the app it went to 24min as expected.

The problem was between the chair and the phone… (ME!)

So double check you settings in the “use my filaments presets” in the printing page.

regards,

P.

Has anyone solved this yet? I’ve had the same problem for 3 days. The profiles I’d already printed now take ages.

I just encountered this issue today… everything I printed in the morning prior to that specific print was okay. The estimated time shown on my Handy app and on the printer is the same. But there’s this one specific print where the time shown on handy app is 2hrs on my printer it became 7.5hrs!

Still figuring what exactly happened

Just encountered this issue as well any recommendations how to solve this?

Hi Guys, I hope you can help. I am not a regular forum user and this is my first time here so i cant find my way around. I need an idiots guide on how to post as i have only had my A1 for one day and have some issues. Ive used forums before and there is usually a “Start new topic” option somewhere and then i can post my own problems for replies rather than gatecrashing someone elses thread as I seem to have done here?

See Understanding Discourse Trust Levels

TLDR version: Spend 10 minutes or more reading at least 30 posts in five topics to raise your Trust Level to Basic, which allows starting new topics and posting pictures.

Most questions have been asked and answered already, so a search for your topic may find the answer you seek while fulfilling the reading requirements. Adding posts to another topic will NOT increase your trust level.

I understand that having a problem and not getting immediate access can be irritating, but the policy is very effective to prevent unwanted spam and improves the forum for the regular users. The vast majority of the responses you will receive here is provided by those users. Bambu representatives might acknowledge a problem with an apology, but they do not often check in with an actual answer. If you want Bambu to provide official support you will need to submit a support ticket.

If you think you have fulfilled the requirements for Basic trust level but still cannot create a topic, try logging out of the forum and then log in again. Sometimes the database does not update immediately.

SOLVED

for a print that I did 20 times, the time suddenly increased from 1.2 hours to 4.5 hours, I tried everything including everything written here.

in the end I did a FACTORY RESET, did all calibrations ( although I don’t think it has anything to do with the problem ) and everything went back to normal.

this helped at least me, I hope it will help someone else

happy printing
