Bambu Handy Update: Next-Gen UI, Smarter Controls, and Filament Inventory

The Bambu Handy just got a big upgrade — a major refresh across UI, functional layout, and interaction experience. Here’s what’s new.

Next-Gen UI & Modernized Aesthetics
Modernized icons and motion graphics set the tone, but the real upgrade is in how information is organized. Printer status, print progress, nozzle temperature, and filament management are now precisely placed where they matter most, delivering complete visibility the moment the Device Page loads.

A Smarter Layout at Every Print Stage
Once a print is complete, the new Print Queue gets the next job started right away. When the printer is idle, the Device Page connects directly to curated model collections, so inspiration is always within reach.

High-frequency controls, including print speed and lighting, are now surfaced directly on the main screen, eliminating the need to navigate through menus. Faster response, smoother transitions, and full control without the extra steps.

Total Control Over Your Filament Inventory
A dedicated Filament Management hub is now built into the app. Filaments loaded via AMS are automatically synced to the library, with multiple ways to add any spool and full customization across brand, color, type, and weight. Aggregated by filament type, every spool is easy to locate at a glance.

How to Get the Latest Version

Looks great! It would be nice if I could add models already on printer storage or the microSD card to the queue.

The layout is a big improvement. Definitely decreases my annoyance of having to dig through menus to turn the light on or off . Speaking of which, I appreciate how it turns the light on/off automatically when viewing the video feed. It’s a small but nice quality of life improvement, especially for my X1C.

Edit - I didn’t see the buttons to expand the video full screen. Don’t know if those are new or I had just missed them. That full screen on the video in landscape is wonderful.

I think it’s a great improvement but!

With the filament I would like to see the number not only the Type and color.

In the Filament library I will be able to filter not just the filament type but also the under group, lika PLA and Basic, Matte and so on.

Looks great. But can we get layer status back please. Absolutely wild it’s been missed off!

I agree, we shouldn’t have lost that. Layer progress is more convenient to me than time.

Will it still take 20 mins to send a notification from the printer to my phone via the cloud?

I love the way the new update looks! The only thing that I would change/add to this would be the ability to add your PA profiles like you can on the printer itself or the Bambu Studio app. Other than that it’s great and I haven’t noticed any issues so far. This is really only a issue when using 3rd party filament.

Only thing I don’t like for now is turning on lights when u have auto play for live feed on. If printer is in idle, they turns on light when u open app.

Wenn man lan only Drucker im eigenen Netzwerk wenigstens darüber ansteuern könnte und wenn man eine slicer Funktion aufn tablet zum Beispiel hinzufügen würde, wo man seine teile bearbeiten könnte Wäre das mal was sinnvolles

Does the device have to be idle to see the “about the app” under settings - not seeing it

The layer count just magically reappeared underneath the % number

The app still hasn’t been working on the current Android 17 beta for weeks or months. It would be great if this were finally addressed and the problem fixed.

Layer and Time status back together at the display

Yes, we need the layer status back. Not a step forward for me.

As a complete beginner two years ago, I feel that the progression of the improvements is outstanding. I probably have more than scratched the surface of my learning curve, and add more things as I require. When computers first came out in the 1980’s, I was there, and couldn’t wait for the next DOS upgrade, then Microsoft came, and Windows lept too far too fast to keep up and then we all, just became users. The Great thing about 3D printing is it will never be subject to Moor’s Law. It will always be just slow enough for all users to keep up or start the learning process.
