Bambu Lab A2L: Creative Playground. Extra Large. June 1, 2026, 4 PM CEST

The A1 is the new Mini

Most people look at price - that’s the first thing. I have spoken to so many new buyer just received A series printer. Many said, it’s affordable. I don’t think Bambu is going to cut price for having a having 4 nozzles under C$1200 for A series.

I also asked one guy why they pick P1S while P2S is out; his answer was, cheap price. C$1000 is too much for him.

Shipped more A series printers than I have seen P or X series. H is super rare like maybe 1 per month. Having an entry level products at budget price is important for people to join the ecosystem. Once they joined, they may invest more for the same brand in the future as they grow.

I don’t see A series to have tools changer sub $1000. That will eat P and X alive - it will just kill those two printer line up entirely.

Exactly!

Looks like bowden feeding like X2D. So no toolchanger.

I would be very surprised if the A series doesn’t stay an open printer without enclosure. I mean it’s the entry level line where the focus will much likely stay on the price. For beginners, but also for farms that don’t need the enclosure for what they print and rather buy 2x A series instead of one X or H Series.

I wouldn’t call it obsolete. Printers like the U1 show why the Vortek system wasn’t a bad idea and is in some points more reliable, more space efficient etc. Is the Vortek one always the best solution? No, but it definitely also has it’s advantages over tool changer. It always depends on the end-users needs / requirements / budget.

I agree. I don’t really see tool changer as competitive when it comes to advanced materials. All the space the additional toolheads and ptfe tubes take make the other aspects more difficult that matter for such materials (effectively heated chamber, filtration, controlled airflow etc).

And I think it’s just a question of time and not a question of “If” we will see a slicer software that can also combine different nozzle sizes in one print. If we reach that point 4 toolheads could also be quite limiting compared to 7 or 8 in a vortek system.

If Bambu should ever add a tool changer to the line for the group of people that print the multicolor toys (and not to replace the Vortek) I would also see it in an A or open P Series down the line.

Pause to change nozzle size mid-print please. Everything else is just fine as it is.

Probably unlikely, bbl hasn’t made a 4D printer because it’s impossible. (Unless you mean 4 axis)

It would be very nice if A2L was a core-XY machine, but it seems like it isn’t according to whatever this is (haha, dual-nozzle, “cannibalised” indeed Malc)

Also, the note from Bambu support assistant about there being a CNC toolhead is insane, we might even go full multi-machine company and Bambu will just start rolling out standalone Laser/CNC machines, maybe even a mill

Thinking the ‘CNC’ is more lost in translation.

I mean we can print those blocks out and then plastic CNC it.

The 4th dimension is time. My Elegoo Neptune 4 Pro has a very large 4th dimension.

Perhaps a built in multicolor system

I bet one of those add on modules is a device that allows the grasping of straws.

A Core XY printer would be interesting. But another bed-slinger in that size? No, sorry, I’m out. I can fit two other printers in the space it takes up.

large bed slingers are just a bad idea.. slinging around large prints with all that mass make no sense, I had one before, the giant anycubic kobra 2 max, I used it once just to test and then gave it away

It would be wild if the X2D was the open beta for the toolhead they intended to put on the A2 all along. It will probably have the new-era bambu servo motor main extruder [ h2, p2, x2 ] but will it be that wierd bowden thing on aux?

tell me more about this open frame version of an A2? My theory is that this will be a larger P1P style printer, possibly even a core xz. If they took the P1P style approach and mounted the vortek to the outside of the printer frame, this could achieve the H2C like system with a larger build volume.

Bambu has said that they couldnt use a larger frame than the H2C because of shipping limitations. Adding vortek outside the frame or shipping a core xz type system like the sovol SV08 max would allow the A2L to exceed these limitations.

we thank you for your servce

Erm, actually :index_pointing_up:, in consumer tech, whenever you see “4D” used alongside 3D printers, it is almost always a marketing misunderstanding, a typo, or a reference to a highly specialized experimental field called “4D printing” (where a 3D-printed object changes shape over time when exposed to heat or water). The Neptune 4 Pro does not do this; it creates standard, static three-dimensional objects.
