Bambu Lab printers are packaged efficiently with minimum waste. Accessories and spare parts orders are very wasteful. Each item is in its own box and padded poly bag.
I recently ordered a bunch of spare parts and accessories, total around 20+ items and many of them are the same items. The order includes 6 glue sticks, each stick is in its own polybag + padded polybag.
Packing everything in a thick box for protection would not only save cost and environment. It would also save time for the customers.
I think the OP was describing a wish for a box for the accessories to be placed inside within the outer delivery box rather than each individual accessory being individually wrapped in seemingly unnecessary padded bags.
I have also received a number of accessories in a single package to find each one individually wrapped in a padded bag. Some in individual thin boxes.
I imagine this aids the warehouse process with little or no thought to the waste that is generated.
Whilst extra protection is expected for hot-ends, glue sticks do not require the level of protection delicate parts do.
I’m with the OP on this one. A review of the unnecessary packaging, particularly the pointlessly wasteful variants for which alternatives are available should be made.
My two cents worth: I’m glad that BBL packs my new printers the way they do. It’s a work of art. Most of it’s cardboard and recyclable if you’re the environmental type. I suspect that any manufacturer can tighten up their packaging program and they will over time to reduce their cost making their products more affordable. I haven’t ordered many things other than the printers so I’m not sure about any over-packing. If you really want to criticize someone for wasteful packaging, look to Amazon. But I’m pretty sure that most of their ridiculous container selections are done by someone who’s being prodded my some supervisor type who only wants them to go faster and faster. I see the environmental hypocrisy all over the place. Apple would love you to think they’re the most responsible of all, yet most of their products will eventually go in the landfill for lack of some twenty-five cent capacitor they won’t sell to you or some independent shop.
