R1 aligns the optical path automatically – a first for a laser cutter.
I miss presentations where a product and its features would just be revealed.
I simply miss the honest product video presentations. I’m sick and tired of commercial presentations that are blatantly dishonest and are lying the customers, just so they make a sale and reach their quotas.
Are there other machines with automatic calibration?
This is not something you 100% have to do on the Xtool P2S, mine came already aligned, but should you get a misaligned machine, you’d do it only once anyway. (with some paper and a screwdriver, “5 minutes”.) Smoother onboarding, but again, it only affects the first day.
An actual smarter CO2 laser in day to day usages over the competitors would need some other, more impactful features in my book, hopefully.
I hope they make a 55w module that fits the h series
Auto PA stil doesn’t work good for 0.4 and I about to name other nozzles. This is the only issue with h2d, still calibrating filaments manually here.
This is true, Auto-everything does not quite work. It does not print as good as a well tuned printer. However it works well enough to be usable out of the box, and certainly better than the older designs e.g. Elegoo Neptune (was going to say Enders but newer Enders now have some calibrations)
Maybe I missed where it is covered, but what is the little nozzle type thing at the bottom of the picture labeled “SHORT”?
Good catch
So why is the laser horizontal?
And if it is rotated, why is the writing that way around?
If it did rotate, that would be a nozzle or sensor? Does it rotate to tap the bed to calculate height? (But why, surely it can use optics to determine distance?)
Maybe it’s only for positioning (side target), maybe it usees a mirror system. Hopefully only 4 days to find out. I wonder how many pre-release testing YTubers are out there waiting to release their vids?
Edit: which posters have been unusually quiet the last couple of weeks?
OK, so the “target” looking orofice is probably recieving the laser, then a diagonal mirror directs the beam down to the “SHORT” opening. Guessing.
I suspect it’s swappable lens. But Short not Small? no idea.
Likely this entire assembled module gets pulled out. Xtool P3 has something similar but more exposed
Basically finer laser spot or bigger power. But the difference is… not huge, at least for the P3.
vs. a UV laser’s 0.02x0.02mm laser spot or Fiber’s 0.03x0.03mm for real fine details.
Yeah, the R1 “module” has what looks like a clip or safety switch right above the “target”. If that is the case that whole thing maybe removeable.
thank you for explaining, it was useful
