Bambu Lab S1: 3D scanner, coming November

I smell Buy Tokens for running an AI to help make the scans cleaner. Or something like that lol. Like you’ll get what youll get with the scanning and software but purchase tokens to have AI give a better outcome or something like Maker Lab kinda deal

At this point it’s very speculative, but I’m pretty sure there will be a new software for the stack, as it doesn’t really play with either studio or suite, lets see, Creality took ages to get Creality Scan to the state it’s in, and even if it’s not amazing it’s pretty good compared to a year ago

pretty sure we’ll be able to see it in action at formnext next month which should be where it will be revealed, and hoping to also see one or two new printers there

I suspect they can hit this: Reality’s “Raptor” is under USD$900, and the “Raptor Pro” is under USD$1400.

I think they have an opportunity to be the “step up” option from an iPhone Pro. The LIDAR in the Pro can do a point cloud of indifferent quality; with a lot of processing it produces something that… needs help… but is better than nothing. I would love to have a higher quality LIDAR scanner.

Awesome! My plan is to wait for the better and cheaper V2 next year. I hope they integrate it with bambu slicer so we can scan and send. With the software cleaning things up automatically. I pray that its not a 3rd piece of software(4th if you count handy).

Maybe suite will actually become a suite and combine 3 if them into one. This way we could have laser jobs and 3d print/scan jobs in the same project.

Final wishes is that it doesnt require an hour of dot application and special sprays that dissolve before the scan is done.

For 3D printing Bambu Lab could base their development on Prusa Slicer.
For Laser and Cut I it looks more like t´BBL has to build up experience and know how.
That might also be for Scanners unless they partner and get teh software from there.
Even with AI it is not that easy to build a peice of software that is easy to use. Bambu Suite
is not that appealing to me, hope they invest into further development.

I dont know, my expectations have been thrown way off with the past few releases. Without knowing the specs it is hard to tell. I think this one is going to be a more higher end.

In the current market, around 1000 is the sweet spot. The 400 dollar scanners are s*** and the 2000 plus ones are too much machine for most people.

I dont think the targeting dots are ever going away. Thats a standard part about how these machines work.

If they use a higher quality laser sensor, no coating should be easily achieved.
