Bambu Lab S1 ?!

Hey guys! :waving_hand:

I saw some recent FCC filings today. It looks like Bambu Lab is officially stepping into the 3D scanner market! The device is registered as the Bambu Lab S1. :exploding_head:

I’ve attached the leaked documents and schematics above as proof. You can clearly see the “3D Scanner” label on the device tag (which also shows 60W power), and a sketch of its handheld design.

Are we finally getting a seamless “scan-to-print” ecosystem directly integrated into Bambu Studio? What are your thoughts on this? Also, what exactly is Bambu Lab planning? Looking at the entire list, are they seriously preparing to release 5+ brand-new products in a short timeframe?!

AKA: We bought our help

I wonder who is mfr’ing the device that theyre slapping the sticker on

The short timeframe part should be taken with a pinch of salt, or in other words, it’s a declaration of intent, not necessarily a fixed release date, which can be at a much later date. We’ll have just sit back, relax and wait for whatever comes next.

Awesome! Bambu’s getting into the stapler market!

You might be right. But here’s what confuses me: Bambu’s FCC filings usually drop at most 3-4 days before the actual release. Why is the timeline so different for these latest ones? (Except R1)

What makes you say that when we know almost nothing about it yet? I don’t know much about 3D scanners, but this looks like a pretty handy handheld unit.

As for the manufacturing part, even Apple buys parts from Samsung. I think it’s totally normal as long as they bring real innovation to the table—assuming it’s not literally just a lazy rebadge job, of course.

The pattern isn’t that the FCC or that product has been approved - it’s something entirely different:

First, they post a picture; then they activate the newsletter; they build hype; they send devices to influencers so they can publish their reviews at their own pace; and only after all that does the official product launch happen.

Even when the printers were already ready for release, Bambu always stuck to this pattern to generate hype for each device. Bambu wants YouTube to be simultaneously flooded with ads from influencers.

Releasing the devices now would essentially violate their own rule, since the R1 was released. The Influencer review Rule always takes priority over an FCC pattern. Although, I could definitely see at least some influencers receiving the devices this year.

After all, Christmas and Black Friday are just around the corner, and they can be used to generate hype. Even though these devices, of course, won’t be on sale.

why dont i see the H3C or X2D pro on the BL site? according to the screenshot they should be out already.

It doesn’t really look like many handheld scanners I’ve seen though. Especially the creality ones, they’re usually just this weird tiny handle with a beefy wide LiDAR rectangle block on top of it, rounded a bit for ergonomics which you’d think would make it feel so lop-sided and have terrible handling.

This however, like CarbonForge unironically said, looks a lot like a staple gun. Probably handles just like one too, which is way better than the scanners we’ve previously seen.

Typical pricing for these scanners range from 1,500 USD to 4,000 USD. Most of the ones at the 2,000 mark do pretty much everything you’d really want from a scanner anyways so maybe that’s where the S1 will be at?

Idk man place your bets on something of which the only things we know is it looks like a staple gun, its a 3D scanner, its made by bambulab, and… uhhh… where the FCC label is ig.

Biggest with the current 3D scanners on the market, is the pathetic excuse masquerade as support. I bought sold one 3d scanner and then I bought a much more expensive scanner. In both cases the support sucked, I returned the expensive scanner. The 3D scanner market is ripe for Bambu to make a huge impact,

If you’ll look closely at the top of the listing, you’ll notice that the date column has as header “Application date”, and not “Release/Launch date”. The fact that a product was launched a few days after registration doesn’t necessarily mean all the other products will be launched in a similar manner, that is 3-4 days after their registration.
