Bambu labs led strip and xtouch screen

Good morning, I have a question for the technicians who participate. I connected an Xtouch screen to the USB port of my Bambu P1S. Now I want to install an original Bambu USB LED strip in my P1S. Is it possible to connect both via a suitable splitter?

Install an led strip that uses the stock bambu connector and plug it there, plenty of sub 5 buck options online. I’ve been using both xtouch and unofficial led strip for over 700h without any problems

I understand but when Bambu Lab say the max is 0.3 amps or the board can be damaged then for me the risk is to big to use the aftermarket 2.5 amps on it

How many hours have you got on the printer and do you know how long 700h is? I would say that is foolproof at this point but if you are worried about warranty I guess do as you wish brother

I know how long it is. I have a printer with 600 hours and one with 400 hours. I’m not an electrician hence my question. With all due respect, the fact that it has not or has not yet caused any damage to you is not yet convincing to me. I had a conversation with the supplier of those cheap strips and he did not know about the existence of the 0.3 amps. I sent him the link to the page and the answer that there technician gave was to add additional cooling to the motherboard. They didn’t know about it but they do have a solution. That was reason enough for me to choose the USB

It is possible to have them share the usb port, yes though i found that the xtouches screen brightness started flickering. As soon as i turned off the led strip the flickering stopped. There might’ve been other causes as i soldered in toggle switches for the led and xtouch to turn them on/off individually.

I went back and seperated them. Xtouch now runs just from the USB port and the Led strip from the original light port.

I am to carefully not to use that original light port

Then your best next option is to run wires from psu to the lights. There are empty posts on the 24VDC iirc on the psu but you’ll need a step down buck converter to get 5V from 24

To confirm my previous statement, yes there is a pair of posts on the psu that are not being used. I recently wired a second aux fan to them and it works withous issues so ANY light (w correct voltage) being wired directly to psu will also work @cjgvisser

do not use the internal USB port for touch and LEDs, the splitter with the Xtouch and LEDs will cause major damage to the printer. power the LEDs externally

I have zero issues, currently at 900h. Aliex led strip on stuck led plug, xtouch on usb port.
