Bambu Lab's New Big Launch Event?

Hey everyone! :waving_hand:

Looking at all the recent FCC filings, it seems like Bambu Lab is growing really fast. Because of this, I think they will change their release habits. They probably won’t just release 1 or 2 products every year anymore.

Instead, I believe they will start doing one big event to announce multiple products at the same time, kind of like an Apple event. At this upcoming event, I think they will reveal the X2D Pro, H3C, P3C, the new AMS units, and the S1 scanner all together. Since we have so many FCC filings right now, October feels like the perfect time for it. :ok_hand:

I even want to give you an exact timeline prediction. If I am right, remember this post!

  • October 4-5 → First website teasers and short sneak peek videos.
  • October 15 → Global launch event.
  • November 6 → First deliveries start.

What do you guys think about this timeline and the product list? Am I dreaming, or is this happening? Let me know! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Somehow I doubt it. Their marketing and sales actions have always been to generate and maximize sales and impact for each and every one of their products on the market and customers.
Launching simultaneously 2 or more products would trigger an unavoidable product comparison (hardware/software and price wise) and the result will translate into increased sales for the product deemed by consumers as being the best fit for their needs/business, leaving the other products with less attractiveness and less sales.
That’s not the Bambu-style approach. They’d rather launch the more expensive product first, then a couple of months later will launch the one that’s less expensive (with less options), so that they can capitalize each at maximum. That’s my opinion, based on Bambu’s modus operandi for all its previous product launches.

Fair point, but releasing products in different categories (like 3D printers, lasers, and scanners) at the same big event wouldn’t really affect each other’s sales, right?

I think that even when the products are different, as you suggest, Bambu would choose to launch each of these separately, to generate interest and media coverage, as well as sales.
If we consider Bambu’s previous participations at various international events (like Formnext in the EU, and other similar events elsewhere), their strategy has always been business and marketing cautious, in terms of types and categories of products they launch simultaneously.
Time will definitely tell if they’ve considered a different business strategy and launch tactic, or they will stick to what has worked best for them until now.

True, but sometimes companies need to take risks and try out new strategies, my friend! I guess we’ll see what happens in about a month. Still, I’d love to hear your thoughts: in your opinion, why are there so many FCC filings right now?

It’s called covering all of your bases. When ready to launch a new product it’s a common practice and strategy to register as much as possible to ensure IPR protection, even if some, if not most, of those registrations will never see the light of day (remain just one of the many R&Ds projects that eventually help or assist develop another product, but never reach manufacturing stage). In this regard, have a look at the most largest industrial 3d printer manufacturer, Stratasys; they’ve got hundreds of registrations and patents, though not all of them have ever reached the market. And Stratasys ain’t the only one doing it. Plenty of other businesses are doing it as well… Bambu being, obviously, one of the others.

This overlaps national day holiday in PRC.

Might be difficult.

I think you are confusing patents with FCC filings. You are right about patents; companies make a lot of them just to hide their real plans. But FCC doesn’t work like that. For an FCC filing, you need a real, finished device for testing. Fake patents are normal, but nobody makes fake FCC filings.

We’ll have to wait and see.

I really appreciate your positive attitude and your excitement about new hardware from Bambu; it’s genuinely refreshing. But, as you might expect, there’s one small thing: starting a new thread every week to speculate about upcoming releases might not be the best approach. I think this is the fourth one now, right?

Maybe it would be better to keep the existing threads active and consolidate the discussion there. Creating more threads won’t make the release date arrive any sooner, even though I totally understand the enthusiasm. :+1:

Oh, I actually didn’t know about that holiday in China! Thanks for the info. But I still want to keep my date prediction. Marketing teams usually schedule website updates and videos weeks in advance. Besides, don’t you think a holiday is the perfect time to build some hype? So an Oct 4-5 teaser is still possible i think. :upside_down_face:

Well, you need to use a certification laboratory that claims that you have sent them a real device. The FCC does not have the budget to test every device submitted itself.

But you are right, the idea of Bambu doing a fradulent FCC filing is in my opinion quite ridiculous; they have products, and they have a reputation, and they know certain people are watching them carefully, so they don’t want or need to do things like this.

Oops, you are absolutely right! I didn’t even realize this was my fourth one. Then let this be my last new thread about it before the big launch! Thanks for the heads up. :folded_hands:

Don’t be to hard on him. It’s just a kid who, most likely, has not that long ago discovered Bambu printers and 3d printing world, so his enthusiasm about 3d printing in general and potentially upcoming new Bambu printers, is understandable… and indeed, refreshing.

Don’t worry, I’m not being hard on him, nor does it bother me, or anything like that - it was just a friendly reminder, maybe not to forget the old topics and to keep them active as well. :+1:

Of course, he can do whatever he wants, or start as many threads as he likes - I just noticed it. It’s not up to me to judge that at all. It was just a suggestion. :+1:

No problem. He was polite.

We saw exactly this happen with the AMS 2 Pro and the AMS HT, with exactly those results.

Even today, a lot of people don’t realize how uniquely beneficial they can be.

Nothing today, but trust me, we will see it tomorrow! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

When someone tells me “trust me”… what that person gets from me is exactly the opposite.

btw, it’s already tomorrow… at least on my side of the world, and nothing came out…and nothing to see

Some companies even order integrated circuits so their competitors cannot deduce functionality.
