Bambu Labs profile saving is a mess

the Export-Profile-Preset-Flalament-Process system in Bambu Studio is incomprehensible and a mess. it has been a mess for a while. when will we have a usable system?

I feel the same, managing the print parameters in BambuStudio is a pain. The division of the settings in filament settings and printer settings and furthermore for each nozzle diameter is not comprehensible and not useful at all. Additionally it is stored inside the software or cloud for each user seperately and different when you are logged in. So it is practically impossible for our working group to build up a set of parameters for shared use. I would like to use cura instead, if possible. It is not perfect at all, but useable, when working with saved projects.

The print quality depends on the print parameters and managing all the sets of parameters for different demands, materials, nozzles and geometries is essential, not an add on. Bambu has to improve here a lot, when they want to address professional users, who not want to restrict themself in using only Bambu material and standard settings.

I write down all of my settings in OneNote (cloud backed notes). I don’t want a future update to wipe my work, so I keep them external.

I agree with the OP, the filament management is confusing.

@user_1051115896 , @Dulphy - a big issue is the lack of a standard language to talk about settings and the /File/Export language does not give confidence in what one is exporting. only with many trials can we get to a system which works for us.

having to write everything down does not inspire confidence in the system. Orcslicer 2.4.0 uses the same system so there is no help there. workable if one spends a lot of time understanding a system for oneself but that could all be wiped away with software changes.

Makerworld has ‘Print Profiles’ and Bambu Studio has ‘Presets’ so again one must check the language to understand what one is working with. The ‘Print Profiles’ seem to work on the MakerWorld side but once that model/profile is downloaded with a .3mf into Bambu Studio where it becomes a ‘Preset’, we need our own system to understand what we have.

Absolutely agree. The whole profile/settings handling in Bambu Studio, cloud and printer is total mess.

It needs proper management system.
