EDIT: Thanks to the link to the screws that they do see (which are too short for the AMS hub) I was able to correctly guess that they’re m3 screws. (As, I guess, are most things in these printers!) ChatGPT helped too, and said they should be 28mm. I had some m3s in a kit that were 30mm, but it also came with washers, so I threw a washer on each and I’m up and running. I’m just going to leave this thread up in case someone searches for a similar problem in the future. Thanks y’all!
Hey folks,
Need some help.
I just spent over $1000 on 3 AMS2 Pro units and a hub kit. The hub kit didn’t include the longer screws that you need to install it to the back of the unit. I contacted support and they told me that they wouldn’t provide me with the screws and that I should “check the website for the appropriate product.”
Their website doesn’t have screws, of course.
Can someone tell me exactly what I need to buy, with the hopes that I can get it from the local big-box hardware store?
Also, does anyone understand why Bambu would refuse to send me 2 screws? I have 1 A1 minis, 2 PS1 units, 1 X1c unit, 2 AMS units, and now 3 AMS pro units, all purchased directly from them, along with about 100 spools of filament, and they refuse to send me two screws that should have been included w/ my $1000 purchase. Is this typical? I’ve been lucky and haven’t needed support more than once, quite a while ago.
Anyway, I appreciate any info you can give me about the screws. I could mount it, I guess, w/ 3m automotive tape, but that seems like such a hack.
For some time, there have been screws kits for the printers in the store, which were requested by many.
You have also listed the screws dimensions (partially).
I, of course, cannot precisely explain the why, and, facing your record as a client, it would be expected that a company would take the chance to show goodwill and offer. I guess those in the first line dont have the authority to take such action.
I would insist in case a component isn’t available in the shop. I did it once, and they swiftly opened a private sale for the required item.
No, Mine came w/ AMS, and the screws for the simple AMS unit are too short to fit in the AMS Hub. They normally come w/ 2 extra long screws for that purpose. The originals won’t even go all the way through the plastic on the hub unfortunately.
And yes, the other hub I ordered definitely came with the longer screws. It never occured to me that when ordering the hub combo they’d expect me to pay $15 for a pack of screws from which I just need the two to install the hub, but I guess that’s where I’m at!
Hey, thanks JayZay. I definitely don’t want to have to spend another $15 on screws that probably should have come w/ the hub, but at least with that link I might be able to get the specific ones I need.
Edit: No, I checked, and it has one screw that fits the normal AMS buffer component, but not the two required for the AMS hub. Oh well. It was worth a shot.
Ok. I just checked, and the screws for the AMS Hub are M 3X28mm Screws. You can find them in the AMS accessory box:
But you’re correct; you can’t get them from the shop Hardware Parts. Therefore, I would request a way to acquire them from support, as these aren’t standard.
It is indeed true that the screws are only listed as content for the hub and not for the upgrade kit:
Yeah, it’s ludicrous. They’ve doubled-down in the support ticket and told me that I should have bought the correct items, and that I can still purchase them. I asked them what they expect the customer experience to be when they buy an “AMS Combo Kit,” but it’s falling on deaf, rude ears.
It’s fine, like I said in the edit to my original post, I had a couple of m3x30mm screws that I threw a washer on and they worked perfectly. It’s just a really dumb thing for them to do and then double-down on as a normal business practice.
But, honestly, I’m getting way too worked up over a couple of screws, so I’ll just let it go. I just can’t imagine any other company having these kind of sales and support policies, but it fits w/ my experience with Bambu. Thanks for the help!
Hey McGee – I am in the US, and I do appreciate the offer, and I wouldn’t have minded giving you my address and it’s very nice of you to be willing to help out. I did find out through ChatGPT (and later confirmed by JayZay) that the screws are M3x28mm. I happened to have a box of m3 screws (as all 3d printer-minded folks should!) and had some 30mm screws. I threw a washer on them and they sized out perfectly and I’m up and running. Now I’m just baffled by Bambu, but not for the first – or last, I’m sure – time.
JayZay - It’s also funny that they call it an “AMS 2 Pro Upgrade Kit 2” which might make you think, “Oh, if you’re upgrading your AMS hub to an AMS2 hub then you’d already have the screws so you don’t need them.” But of course, there is no AMS2 hub. So there’s no reason to upgrade the hub, making it a very strange naming convention. And they did include everything in the picture EXCEPT for the screws.
I found a solution, so it’s fine. But I would think that a company that cares about the customer experience would at least take the feedback and start including two screws with the upgrade. It would cost them, what, $.05 or so? Maybe $.05 each?
Again, thanks for the help – and maybe even more importantly, the sanity check!
