i dont belive there real at all
they are. i got these from the official retailer in taobao. these are also using rfid. and i dont think a ripoff would real legit stuff for like 2 years just to tell fake filament
It seems like a reasonable solution to offer 250g product. It simply replaces the cardboard hub that supports Refills. The only difference is the addition of the end plates on the hub and you don’t have the prospect of the filament letting loose if the plastic spool is not tightened properly. The weight would be slightly heavier than a standard spool with 250g left on it.
This is good. I would say BL should do the same for the 1 kg refills. Make the cardboard bigger to accommodate the full 1 kg. Because it is meant for use with the regular spool, the cardboard can stay thin like the one you showed and won’t waste too much materials.
It can solve two problems:
-
Right now once a refill is placed onto a spool, the spool is “occupied” until the filament runs out. Having the refill with a full cardboard (albeit thin) will allow the partially used refill to be taken out and the spool can be used with another refill. It will save the number of spools that one has to own.
-
The current refill occasionally stuck in the space between the spool and the refill. Although the issue can be solved by massaging the refill right after putting on, not everyone is doing it. If the refill comes with a full length spool, the winding will be better and reduce the chance of filament getting stuck.
I’d love a link to that filament. My house in México is on a tropical island and keeping things dry is easier with smaller spools.
Yes, they do. They warp the ■■■■ of them and yout rims won’t go on them. I won’t buy cardboard from Bambu.
I’m kind of down on cardboard from any manufacturer. I appreciate the environmental aspects of cardboard over plastic but I’ve got a cardboard spool in an AMS right now and I am just waiting to be done with it for the not-smooth running. I already got past the drying bit but it definitely takes longer to get the moisture out. But whatever works. I’m sure some will appreciate being able to buy smaller spools.
a box of them is about 25 dollars, it comes with 20 250g spools
Most hobbyists need like 250grams of some weird colour for “that one model”. it is susprising that it has taken so long for bambu to do this.
Exactly.
Another big, probably bigger, benefit is that the unfinished roll can be taken off the spool and the same spool can be used for another color or type. No need to save and stock up a large number of reusable spools. I hope BL find a way to extend this idea to the full 1kg roll so the filament refills can have a neater winding and easier to swap.
I wonder if they want to keep selling the plastic spools tho. They have to make a profit on them.
Also, there’s the MarsWork spools you can swap filament on and off of. I have a couple on-order to try.
These go onto the reusable plastic spools. They are not to be used by themselves inside AMS.
Wonders if “AMS Mini” will appear with like 20x 250g spools or if people will just use colour blending.
ams for only the mini spools? Would be cool
