Bambu PLA Matte Ivory White (new roll) printing with the standard Bambu settings. Well dried filament (maybe over dried - if thats possible). I have run the Flow Rate calibration (result = 5) and applied it.
Printer X1C, 0.4mm nozzle, textured PEI plate.
The first layer is perfect. But as the print progresses extra bits of filament start to appear and the general end result is very disappointing. I am not having any issues with other brands of PLA, only this one. If I change the print speed to Silent 50% then its a perfect result.
See photos, I am out of ideas. Its probably a setting that needs tweaking, but I dont know which to try. I assumed that the standard tested Bambu settings should “just work”. I would appreciate any ideas on what I can try.
It seems as if the nozzle is running into the print and pushing out bits of it. On the pictures it looks as if the corners are warping and the nozzle crashes on it. Try cleaning the plate with soap and water and drying it with a microfiber cloth. (Don’t use only alcohol, that only spreads the grease). Also, try doing a complete calibration to the printer and lubricating it.
Edit: What nozzle, layer height and layer width are you using? A very low layer height/excessive width for the nozzle size can be the issue
Thanks you are right. The first layer and maybe a few more look perfect. It seems as more filament is laid down some shrinkage might cause the very end of the print to detach. I have read somewhere that Bambu PLA matte doesnt stick to the bed that well. I have noticed that removing the print from the bed is somewhat easier than I think it should be. So maybe I should try a diferent bed temp?
The nozzle is 0.4mm, layer height 0.2mm, line width, initial 0.5mm a, others 0.42 - 0.45mm.
0.20mm Strength @BBL X1C - Cubic
The bed has been cleaned several times with soap and water using a sponger and drying with a paper towel.
Right now printing in silent mode. But now I do notice a very slight lift on one of the corners. A tiny amount, but it can be seen. I will try rotating the print 45 degrees and adding a brim or ears.
So far not so impressed with this filament.
Yes, try using a brim, reducing fan speed for less shrinkage and setting elephant foot compensation to 0 for better adhesion.
A late thought, maybe the bed is a bit cooler at the edges.
