I’m printing some stuff for my son but am having an issue where Bambu PLA Matte will not properly adhere to the layer of Bambu PLA Silk+ beneath it. This results in the model easily splitting into two. If I print the model entirely out of PLA/PLA Matte it comes out fine, and it’s only when introducing the PLA Silk+ for the background color things go wrong.
Is this a known incompatibility, similar to using PETG as a support for PLA and vice versa, or are there some settings I should adjust to have a better chance of this working?
Silk filaments are decorative rather than structural. They also have issues sticking to themselves with a little pressure they can break on their own layers.
I have had adhesion issues with silk mixed with other PLAs as well, not always.
If you can glue it, I’ve used a variety, for small areas I use superglue gel control to just place a drop. I use plastic cement (scigrip) for larger parts, like glueing an arm on a large figure.
I’m jumping in here because I’m having exactly the same issue with Bambu PLA Silk. The layers just don’t seem to bond properly – the prints break apart even under very light stress. Glue or any kind of post-fix doesn’t help at all; the cracks always run right between the layers.
I’ve tried adjusting temperatures, but I can’t seem to find a setting that really improves the adhesion.
So my question is:
– Is there any way to export and share filament profiles from Bambu Studio?
– Or can such profiles even be saved and imported as files?
I don’t have enough experience with all the fine-tuning options in Bambu Studio to set everything up manually, so if anyone has a working profile or some key parameters that help Silk PLA layers fuse better, I’d really appreciate it.
