Bambu Stodio 1.9.5 is out

With the 1.9.3 quite a few users had issues.
Then came a few bugfixes and the 1.9.4.
Now we have the 1.9.5 with more bug fixes and improvements.

Some users already reported struggles, like on the A1 the z-axis no longer moving after a few layers.
Other users are confused because their settings suddenly produce different print results or that 3mf files no longer come out of the machine as they did.
So nothing really changed ROFL

I am a bit reluctant o jump on a release version that comes with so little easy to find information.
It would be really nice to have a comprehensive list of feature requests VS fixes and what is still unfinished or causing issues.
Hard to keep track and getting even harder to keep consistent print results.

Don’t get me wrong: I love improvements as much as the next guy!
But I also would like to properly know how to use them and what they actually do rather than guessing…
So how about we do it here?

What’s your first impression of the new Studio version?
Any struggles with the installation or using it as advertised?
Are your prints coming out as expected and do the improvements help?
Did you already find new bugs or issues we should be aware of?
Give it a try if you dare and report back

First impressions based on the Zip file:

The printer definitions are still the same as for the 1.9.3, no changes.
Filament, process and machines settings seem to have some changes.
Sadly it seems custom filaments are still based on the generic profile base settings and not handled as true additions to pre-defined filaments.
But then again, even the Bamabu ones all link back to the generic profiles.
Let’s see if adding custom filaments finally works the right way and whether or not things stick in Studio, machine AND AMS…

We all inherit characteristics from our parents. Without parents we would not exist.

Same is true of printer, filament, and process presets.

Well, noticed one big bummer when trying: All custom settings and profiles disappeared.
Still all in the right folders, just not showing up in Studio …
Let’s see how to get fixed up…

Honestly, I still always update and test Bambu Studios each new version. So far its definitely come a long way from where it was from the start.

BUT, it continues to fail me every time… The need to implement the feature “Add extra perimeters on overhangs” is a MUST! Printing a job for a major window/door company and these models have 80+ degree overhangs and are 8" tall 6.5" in diameter. The way B.S sliced it completely failed me and I didn’t check the preview but it printed the outer wall overhang just mid air… Now OrcaSlicer already having this feature, automatically adds the perimeters needed to appropriately have the outer wall attach and print when it detects an overhang is being printed thus correcting a possible failure.

These are already developed and open source features yet Bambu Lab holds their chin high still by developing new or revised already in place features within their slicer… There’s pros and cons to both but I’ve had more failures with B.S versus O.S and will continue to use whichever works best for my business.

Personally, I have noticed only one “major” change in the new update. The video (on my PC) stops working, “no activity” error displays, but even Wiki does not cover this particular error message. It happens 15-20 minutes into the print. It does it for both my X1Cs, but just on the Bambu Studio PC program. I can restart the video, but never had to before these latest Bambu Studio updates… any ideas [that are not intended to show how stupid I am?] haha

Tried what I can to get my profiles back into Studio but only reverting back to the 1.9.3 makes the appear - so frustrating…

The feared total failure of my good models though did not happen, at least not yet anyway.
I did notice a speed problem though.

Bambu clearly made some improvements for certain overhang problems and PA issues.
But they came at the price of print speed.
Don’t get me wrong please - If I get a better print result I won’t mind if the print take a few minutes longer.
However, if a model I previously printed in just under 7 hours now needs over 9 hours without me having made any changes I can only wonder.
“Smooth speed discontinuity area” Bambu calls it, but whether on or off, my print time won’t get anywhere near the 7 hour mark.
Now only during the combined infill the flow rate comes close to the set max of 40 while literally everything else is printed with flow rates way slower than in previous Studio versions.

Starting all over again now to create high flow profiles for my hotend :frowning:

Where can I get the newest version? I downloaded 1.9.3.5 last week when I got my A1 and it won’t even let me use it. So I’m anxious to try 1.9.5 and see if I can finally use the program.

Github - Download the appropriate package from Assets for your computer. The Windows .exe is a normal installation, the .zip is a portable version.
